I was actually trying to broker a sale between my buddy and Tom but my buddy flaked out. Gave it some thought and took the plunge.

I have always wanted a RWB Rebel Machine, S/C Rambler in an a or B scheme, AMX, Marlin or even a Gremlin X. I have always liked the under dog and believe America should have done whatever it took to keep American Motors alive to this day since this is America.

I'm building a '70 Javelin for autocross racing (amateur). Mopar B-body 8 3/4 rear end, Viking coil over front suspension , AMC 360.

I haven't seen Tom post in many years. Is he still fishing all the time?

I saw this old commercial 3 years ago. It's awesome! This would be a brand new at the time car heavily modified and cool!

The thing about AMC is that they took the best of Ford, GM and Mopar and made a pretty good product. AMX followed the Vette, Madador the 70 RR/GTX, and the Marlin the 1st generation Charger. From the looks of things there may of been a little industrial spying going on.

Had one almost identical to your AMX. My wife was pissed when I sold it, the only car that has ever happened about! Black with black bucket interior, 4-speed but the engine was replaced with a 401 out of a cop car. Had the side pipes, I think they called them "trendsetters"?

Well....I don't know that they took the 'best' of anything. Most of their vehicles were somewhat mish-mashed things that really were nothing special. I still remember going with my Dad to get rid of his big-block Newport during the gas crunch. He wanted to get something more efficient. Ended up with a Gremlin X brand new. He kept it about 6 months (tops). Thing was pathetic on fuel and got worse gas mileage than his old Newport.

I could have picked up a '68 AMX 390 4 speed car a dozen or so years ago for not a lot of money. Rust free Arizona car. I let it slip away. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

Always have loved the SC Rambler. Heck back when I started getting into Mopars 20 years ago(yep I was a Pontiac man) I seriously considered an A scheme car. They were relatively cheap still with a decent one going for about 6k. Nah, like trans ams, they will never rise in price. I'll get one later. Besides, being honest, I never had the money to buy a nice car. see all these folks talking about buying cheap cars back in the 80's. Yeah, I remember a nice 68RR in Benton Center NY in 84 that sat there for more than a year for sale. Price? 4500. Didn't have that either.

What's an AMC? Don't you mean GMC? laugh2

Here's an older pic of my toy box. Sadly, I sold the Maxi Blue hatch for a down-payment on a then-new 2016 Mustang GT. But, I still have the humpster, the V8 hatch and the Gremlin. Might be adding an SX/4 to the collection.... found one nearby that's supposedly rust free. Hope to go have a look fairly soon.

Finally got my AMX picked up. Buddy of mine drove over, Bought it from Tom (AMXAUTOX). Pretty solid car. Bought the trailer with the car. Also got two truckloads of parts. We’ll have to go back and get the rest when I go pick the car up. Everytime he stopped the car drew a crowd.

I haven't seen Tom post in many years. Is he still fishing all the time?

If John doesn't want the racing tires and rims you can talk to him abut them. I think all the tires are worn out, some rims are powder coated black, and the Magnum 500 15" rims I'm sure he wants. If he doesn't want the 14" Magnum rims you can talk to him about those. The car,and so the 14" rims, are in Eastern Wa. right now. The race tires and 15" rims are still here at this time. There are also books and other racing articles you might be interested in if John doesn't want them, they are also in Eastern Wa. Talk to John about that. I also have a '68? Javelin hood.

Marlin was the AMC car that looked sorta like the first Charger in '66.

Yes. I'm selling a few things that I don't need anymore, lots of die cast cars, and a tractor soon, and so on.

Let’s see that Javelin

Mine doesn't look as good as those we've seen on this post.

Here's a video of it yesterday pulling out of the shop under its own power. First time since 1989.

I still need to install the hood and grill.

The white is Dodge Truck Bright White. The blue is Dodge Truck Intense Blue. The red is chevy toriadore something red, I wanted the sparkle in that red, but the painter didn't have the sparkle to add,, oh well. I should have gone with Dodge Truck Flame Red.
