Any idea if this thing will last longer than 30,000 miles in a tow/haul application?

Straight 6 is much better then v6. If done right should be very reliable

Like the GM 4.2 liter inline 6 that was in the Trailblazer? At the time I was working for a company that made the leak test equipment for the lost-foam casting blocks for those. Once they 'gross' leaked (porosity in the foam casting) they sent them into a secondary process to seal the pores. They were allowed to fail three times (being re-cycled thru the sealing process) before they were scrapped. Oil was leaking out of the sides of the engines....

Never, ever argue with an IDIOT. They will drag you to their level and then beat you with their years of experience

What makes you think Chrysler can't build a head gasket, rings, pistons, rods, and a crankshaft that won't? When's the last time you saw a Slant 6 that died?

Chrysler doesn't SCRAP their entire V8 lineup and replace it with this engine platform because it's a Turd, use Your head, Man.

Try to imagine you control the Company, beating the Competition is your only goal, and the whole World is watching. Forced induction, small displacement, power and mileage is what sells.

Blame Ford: they started it, Dodge is finishing it. Take a bow, Ford, you deserve it and Dodge is stepping up to the plate.

OJ, please do not compare a Blunder Motors product to anything outside of an African Garden Tractor.

Normally I say "Kia", but quality has really gone down hill at B.M. so have to be more creative and go to Third World countries.

Thank-you. up

Don't think that this particular engine had fuel economy as the top of the goal list. Seems the EV is there for that purpose. And by the way when we all bought our ICE performance muscle cars who bypassed a model because of poor fuel economy, back in the day or even now in the day. ( hmmmm is "Now in the Day" a new term shruggy laugh2 laugh2 ) Just feel good that a performance ICE is still available or ask Mopar to lower the compression and tune it for "fuel economy down down. "New H.O Hurricane 6 (with more government restrictions and hoops to jump through with obviously) has worse fuel economy than 5.7 Hemi". Who would have thought?

Lot's of people talking crap on both sides of the argument with zero facts to support their statements.

Comparing a gutless (all of them) /6 to a high HP turbocharged straight six, with zero in common except the cylinder count, is simply ridiculous.

Comparing some manufacturer's engine to another's and making claims as to reliability or durability is equally ridiculous.

Let's get real here folks and at least wait till some, any, data comes in from the field.

Or at least till you have driven one.

Money drives the decisions.
One cylinder head and related parts.
Simple inline block.
One catalytic converter.

Money says use inline engine.

This new I-6 is only 182 CI.

Per the article it copied a few design ideas from the 4.0 Jeep motor.
Nice to know the block is closed deck. I would love to see a dyno sheet specifically for the torque curve.
