I’m finally back working on my 70 Charger restoration/preservation project. It’s a 65,000 mile original paint car. My purpose is to save as much of the original parts and look that I can. I’ve had to replace a few things with reproduction parts but not many. I’m working on the factory ac right now. I have the original and hard to find 70 b body only lines that appear to be in good condition but they have been off for many years. I’ve thought about sending them off to either classic auto air or vintage air but the replacement of the hose requires a weld that does not look factory. Has anyone just flushed theirs out with Freon flush and tired them? I have lots of R12 and I can test the system with nitrogen before I charge it. Any thoughts? Thanks

The stuff they sell for rubber today is garbage. 50 year old rubber is still better than most of the crap they sell today.

If it were me, and the hoses look good on the outside, no cracks, wear spots etc. AND I was using R12, then I would use them.

Flush them, Pressure & Vacuum test them and go ahead.

If I were building a system for R134a then just get the new hoses because R134a is a different beast and the new hoses are more suited to it.
