Question is did cars go for a premium back then with a sheet? Did he get that kind of money for the car when he chose to keep it? Or did he get a reduced price based on the market at the time? We really can’t ferret that out. Too many factors involved.
I’ve seen more than a few instances over the years where somebody has kept some sort of keepsake piece of a car like that. It’s one thing when the car is sold and that is accounted for. Another entirely if somebody suddenly loses sentimentality in favor of a payday.

VIN# RM23U0A176682 For Prosperity purposes if I owned the car I would click and save the picture . and tell the seller to pound sand Several years ago, I found the buildsheet to a 69 Hemi Roadrunner I used to own. Called the then owner and gave it to him. I would bet the guy then still owns that car PS, this bird was talked about back in 2010 http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php?topic=71402.75

Some people care little about "doing the right thing" and more about $$$. The piece of paper has little to no meaning to the person selling it other than $$$, unless he used to own the car.
As others have stated I am in the "give it to the owner" of the car category.

Ad says the guy sold the car in the 80s, so apparently he did own it at one point.
I am all for the give it to the owner idea. If I had a broadcast sheet for someone, I'd be excited to give it to them.
I'm not opposed to selling it to the owner, as the owner clearly benefits financially if he has the broadcast sheet for his Superbird. If he wants it badly enough, he'll be willing to pay for it. $10k? That price is ridiculous, and the current owner of the broadcast sheet will have it until he's dead. I have no idea what a reasonable price would be.

Identifying paper work belongs to the car and should be with it when sold. Right. This and the ridiculous price (IMO) really rub me wrong. Maybe he just found it in a mess of paperwork, but still $10k is obnoxious IMO.

i will only comment that i have been the nice guy MANY times in my life and at almost 70 I'm questioning the generosity as it has rarely be acknowledged or reciprocated. I try to not let those experiences change/guide me, but I have become a lot more cautious. 10K seems high but how much value will it add to the car? 1, 2, 5, 50K The answer to that question IMO determines the value of the document. I'm not saying if it increases the value by X amount that is what should be paid but is should be a factor in deciding. As it is right now, it's useless to anyone except the current owner of the car Exactly. That's why I said (above)...tell him to burn it. If for no other reason, on principle. It is absolutely worthless to anyone other than the owner of the car. So hold it for ransom? I say tell the holder of the document to shove it... ...and I'd be fine with a reasonable "finders fee." Maybe a fine steak dinner for two (for example)...

A well heeled buyer could try to snag if for an offer, and wait things out hoping he lands the car someday. Would be a better bet if he had a child that wanted to play the long game as well.

Maybe the seller does have a more altruistic intent. I'm not defending him as I don't know him, he may actually want $10,000 for it. OR.... it's on FBM, which needs a price, and we've all seen ads for items for $1, or $123,456 or whatever. IF the seller really does have a reasonable price in mind, say $500 or $1000 or whatever, he isn't going to list that price because he'd have a hundred phone calls from other guys looking to buy it and track down the current owner and sell if for far more. At $10k, it cuts out all the BS.

I've listed several vehicles in the last year, and within hours of the post hitting, I start getting the stupid offers of 30-50% of the asking price. And they always say "CASH!!!", like I'm going to sell you the truck I listed for $15k for $5k AND take a check? I swear I'm going to tell the next one "Yes, come and get it", then send him on a wild goose chase.

^^^^^This!!! If the current owner of the 'bird finds that guy's FB ad, just take a picture of the Broadcast sheet and be done with it...at least he's got an electronic copy of it.

Maybe the seller can kidnap the guys kids at the bus stop and get his 10k that way! Asking 10k for a build sheet is just as much of a crime!
