Putting a 70 Duster basket case back together. It was original paint with original panels. All body gaps are perfect. No kinks in the frame rails. The gap at the rear of the front tire is 3/4", at the front about 2 1/2"(both sides). It has the correct stock lower arms (stamped VL) and K frame from a 70 340 Duster. The spindles, and ball joints are factory model big bolt pattern parts. The upper arms are big ball joint of unknown origin. I believe there is only one big ball joint arm that will bolt into a A body. All A, B, and E body parts (spindles, ball joints, knuckles) for this conversion show that they are interchangable. The upper arms are on the correct side. Nothing appears bent. The only thing I can think is the strut rods are wrong, too long. They are roughly 21". New offset Moog bushings up top. Poly lower and strut bushings. Any ideas?

There are two A-body strut rod lengths. up to 72 then 73 and later. About a 1/4" difference

Also, B/E body strut rods will install. But they are even longer. I found that out the hard way once since I replaced only one side.

Also poly bushing are about 3/16" or so thicker that up to '72 bushings.

Thanks I never new this. Car came as a basket case. It does have poly bushings. We cut the rods and shortened them .600". Sleeved them with .090" moly tube. If thats too short I'll shim the rear washer at the front location.

that's a huge difference. I'm thinking those were B-body rods.

I had a spare pair of B body rods. They were even longer.
