After seeing outrageous prices for classic mopars in general we've decided we are out of trying to get a cool classic mopar.Weve been selling parts for a while,I'm a service connected vet and can't be crawling over cars like I used too.I have aot of different problems. Were keeping what memorabilia we have. Were gonna get a new leftover hemi charger/challenger. I can't complain I've owned 11 classic/muscular mopars over the years.Roadrunners, coronets, darts magnum etc..So alot of great memories..especially when I didn't have to fix them!Lol drive

Yeah as I age the novelty of crawling around on my junk is starting to wear off.

I've already decided headers aren't worth the headaches anymore--nothing but manifolds from now on for me.

Lumpy cams that don't idle well are going to be the next thing to go bye-bye...

I'm leaning towards selling my '65 Coronet this summer. Haven't decided yet, but I don't have a big shop anymore so I don't have the space to work on it, or store spare parts.

May be weird but I wish I never sold my Dart. Nothing like rowing through the gears on a cool night. No sound deadener. 3 inch exhaust. Felt like king of the world with people asking questions at the gas station. My kids are successful and I am looking for something nasty to enjoy. I daily drive a hemi jeep. Don't care about mileage. Save up now to live and enjoy your dream. I'm saving to build a blown hemi, Jericho shifted, 62 Dart. Live and enjoy your life.
P.s Andy your car is awesome.

Widebodies (new) are getting harder to find, but lots of standard bodies sitting on lots.

Good point, I noticed for every 20ish challengers there's maybe 1 challenger wide body and they are 7 to $10,000 more.

Im glad I bought mine when I did . It popped the budget I had at the time. Not that I care what its worth to sell anyway. But if the need arose I know I can get my money back with no issues ( wife said its NOT for sale btw , I asked )

We have thought hard about replacing the wife's 2016 Chrysler 200S with a new / newer hemi Charger ( I have zero interest in a modern Challenger ) but the no car payment and the car has zero issues . I think that desire will fade

We looked at this and gave some thought to it., But A - Price at over $70 k out the door and B - lack of a sunroof wife said NOPE . We gonna keep her 200

I guess I am the opposite. Yes, the older I get, I agree that I don't like crawling around and working on my classic cars as much anymore. I am fortunate enough to also own a newer 2012 Challenger R/T. However, I would never sell off my old classics for the newer car. I like them both for different reasons.

even though i'm old, i still enjoy playing around with the old "junk", and over 60+ years, i have accumulated a massive tool collection that allows me to do almost any task needed except paint.
however, the dumbest thing i did when my old man and i re-roofed my garage back in 1996, was not build it right to incorporate a lift ! spank
looking at some of the "low rise" [around 40"] lifts, which would at least give me a little more comfort than jack stands, i just haven't found anything that trips my trigger.

I’ve struggled with this for past year. I never put in an order, guys said the dealer didn’t have to sell it to me(see the vet losing a 170 he ordered to another buyer), and that I didn’t have to buy it when it came. I just couldn’t get to the point of pulling trigger, time to order passed. Local dealer five miles away got almost the one I wanted, except it has a sunroof. Something I despise with the passion of a white hot supernova. I don’t think I could be happy with that car, so I’ve punted and punted the idea. Yet that car sits. It got discounted 10% under sticker. Still sits. I do like what others don’t I have to say.

Thing I keep coming back to is that I feel like I will always want an old car. I have to clear garage space for a new car, or shuttle cars between my old garage two hours away, and if I sell this one I think it might take two or three lifetimes to replace it down the road when the bug bites again. It’s original metal and I don’t think I can love a car again without that. Plus my kids helped bring this one home and it has become a member of the family. The draw of the new challenger with my ass as first to fart in the seat, and the ability to just drive and drive, and auto cross, and blend in at cars and coffee remains tempting. Most of the people that attend the local one drive new stuff.

I’m having a hard time relating to them.

I want my fair share

^^^ Not me - still resolutely analog, except for my daily, which sees the rain & snow & parking lots...
I understand the appeal of a new car, but in economic terms, not to mention what I feel is excessive & unrepairable technology, it's not for me.

Yep, that is me. I've been working on Mopars for 40 years so it has been a good run, but I'm going to slowly step away. Selling the shop was the break point for me. Now I need to keep downsizing until I just have the minimum on hand. I'll keep making parts for a few more years and then shut it down or sell it off.

We have a 2014 Challenger SXT that we enjoy. Last summer I sold my 64 Dodge 330 drag car and bought a nice 69 Dart GTS 340. My wife and I really enjoy that little car! up
