WSJ says it will dispose of half their un-unionized USA workforce of about 6,400 after getting rid of 2,500 in April.

Yep, I have 2 buddies that worked at the Tech Center in Auburn Hills MI. They both took the buy out and retired this summer since they saw the writing on the wall. Get something now, or nothing later and just get laid off permanently.

Who's gonna be left? The CEO, board and ChatGPT? What a CRAZY world we are living in.

I keep telling my kids (in their 20's and 30's) to find a job that can't be outsourced easily, like concrete, electrical, plumbing, parking lot refinishing,......

Correct. You can without a doubt set your own pay scale with a trade of some sort. Working for the automotive companies has been a slow, but steady descent. They have to outsource what they can. The only ones making enough to buy their cars are the guys putting bolt 'A' into hole 'B' because the are 'highly skilled'

Never, ever argue with an IDIOT. They will drag you to their level and then beat you with their years of experience

It just popped in my head that a few years ago the WSJ had an article about how it was almost impossible to fire an age 35+ hourly worker in Italy because labor laws about termination had changed a little year by year. The main thrust of this article was that situation now meant that less than 35 year old workers could only get “temporary jobs” lasting about 90 to 179 days.

Maybe Stellantis has these “for life” white collar employees in Italy/France/Europe
and reluctantly intends to shift office jobs there?

This is what happens in the modern world of corporate buyouts. AND, when you sell an American company to an offshore entity. What could possibly go wrong?

This is exactly why I have shied away from buying a new Ram, Dodge or anything else the original Chrysler company sold. It has been sliced, diced, bought and sold so many times I've lost track. Reminiscent of several other car companies that no longer exist except in history books. twocents beer

New Mantra:

"We don't do that anymore. The supplier does that."

"We don't know anything about that, we just sell it."
