I think I’d like it more if it sat a smidge lower in the rear, and also had the original instrument cluster in it. The factory ones are super cool.

Agreed. I'm not a fan of red but his choice. But at least black out the front wheel wells

To me, the guy missed the essence of an Imperial: comfortable highway cruising. Granted, his car-his way, but I'd prefer something more Pro-Touring; but without the wanna-be racecar stuff. Big brakes, tires, interesting wheels, upgraded handling, and lots of mid-range grunt, with AC & a good sound system. And a color that honors the Exner design.

"Some purists might not like customizing a classic like this..." Can I get an Amen? F'em I say. Not your car, not your choice. Don't like too damned bad. Win the lotto, make them an offer they won't refuse, then you can do with it like you want. Till then, keep your ignorance to yourself. I really hate people with that kind of attitude.

Sniper you need to chill some. He has his opinion as do you. Your rant is totally overboard. For once I am 100% with Stumpy, chill out, nobody needs your opinion, move on if you don't like others opinions...

I'm a bit torn, but overall It's very beastie. I am not a fan of the hood nor the shifter and gauges. But it's cool that someone thought enough of a car that most ignore, and made it cool. Virgil Exner is a hero of mine.

Ummmm........I took what 6PakBee and Sniper said totally different as y'all did since 6PakBee was quoting the article. To me they were both agreeing with the quote? Since completion, Randy says he loves driving the car and does so any chance he gets. He says the car causes a commotion wherever he goes as many folks have never seen an automobile this outlandish. Some purists might not like customizing a classic like this but we say the best thing to happen to this Imperial was when Randy got a hold of it. Anyways...... I like it except for the interior. The trans tunnel looks like absolutely no thought was put into it and to me 'race' buckets look out of place in a car like this unless its a full-on drag only car.

I can't remember how many mid 1950 Imperials I bought and parted out to get the 392 Hemi motors out of them. I did accidently buy one 1959 4 door that I thought was a 1958, it had been park in a gas station for several years and I ask the owner of the service station about it and he said if you want it get it out of here. He hadn't done a lien sale on it and he knew I would part it out, I didn't know how to tell the differences between the 1957,1958 and 1959 Imperial body's back then by looking at them without raising the hoods That was a long, long time ago

"Some purists might not like customizing a classic like this..." Can I get an Amen? It has nothing to do with customizing a classic like this, it's what was done to it...

Not my preference, but kinda cool in some ways, and not so much in others.
Looks like they kind of ran out of inspiration/energy when it came time to do the interior. Looks unfinished, especially with how they did the instrument panel, trans tunnel, and shifter... besides, how about making the push buttons work with it... you know, dial a win and all that? Just my opinion playing armchair quarterback... it's all much nicer than anything I could put together.
Anyhow, I used to think a classic luxury boat like this should be preserved for future generations, etc., but honestly with the world around us being like it is, does anybody really care? Have fun with it today because who knows where these cars will be in a couple of decades, if not in a museum. So good on the owner to have some fun with it, rather than let it sit in the garage waiting for the full resto that probably won't happen anyhow.

I like it! Many big early cars never get the Pro Street treatment but should! Early 60s Chevy Impala and Ford Galaxy look MEAN and awesome with the big meats tucked in the rear. Anytime a classic is customized WITHOUT the cable TV show 19" wheels is a time I consider a win.

It is nice to see something different. It may not be everyone's taste, but the car is put together nicely. It would look wicked with a blower sticking out of the hood.

As someone who grew up looking at cars from the 40,50,60,70s i thought you were supossed to make tgem customs from very little to wild. No one had 100 percent stock stuff.
