There's probably a lot of details that won't surface about this.

Someone must have seen something when the accident first happened otherwise, how would the police have known a white 1995-1997 Neon was involved? That's pretty specific info.

Could also be physical evidence. You'd be amazed at how they can drill down and identify what year/make/model a paint sample, piece of plastic, etc. came off of.

I think they will get more then a slap on the wrist. Not only the severity of the crime but all done to hide it. Overall it seems just not too smart of a pair from the start.

The last article had their sentences.

David Alexander Halliburton, 56, pleaded guilty to failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm or death, and obstructing justice. He was sentenced to two and half years behind bars. His sentence also includes a three-year prohibition on driving and a condition that he must submit DNA to a database.

Anastasia Marie Halliburton, 54, who helped hide the vehicle, pleaded guilty to obstructing justice and was given a six-month conditional sentence, including four months of house arrest and two months of curfew. She must also complete 200 hours of community service.

I think they got off too light but there is a lot of things that time hid from the prosecution. Was the driver drunk? Was there malice or just an accident? etc. All of that and more could only be revealed if the driver or family was honest but he\they have proven they aren't capable of being honest.

They are sick and terrible people in my book.

Slap on the wrist.

There ought to be a penalty interest multiplier for those who actively evade justice over time, just like penalties for paying the IRS late.

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

It gets sicker than some realize. The police did investigate his car and thought his second car and his story were legit 14 years ago. They asked to borrow his car to perform a police reenactment they aired on TV to try to get the public to help.

HE LOANED THE POLICE HIS CAR TO DO THE REENACTMENT OF THE ACCIDENT HE KILLED THE KID IN.

Serial Killer level of Sick, doesn't come close to describing him or his wife.

thats what gets me. why not cut it up and dispose of it little by little?

It's better to keep your mouth shut and give the impression that you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
