This guy is on the end of my shop. Body is at least 3/4" long and overall with legs at least 3".

I have heard them called garden spiders and orb weavers. Harmless to you. I had one in my office window a couple years ago and it was cool to watch her work. Todd

I had a similar spider ride home with me from the woods (I assume) several years ago. It made a web on the back side of my house, from the eve to almost down to the ground. I moved it to the back of my property, but to my surprise the very next morning it rebuilt its web exactly where I move it from....so I left it there, and named it "Bones." Bones stayed right there until it got too cold, then went away...
Oh, no idea what they're called, but they're all over the woods around here this time of year.
