Rare doesn't always mean valuable........

I still miss the '93 Caravan I had, so from time to time I'll look to see what's out there and came across this gem today. Mine had the 2.5 and auto. While it wasn't a powerhouse, to say the least, it got the van along ok. It had no trouble keeping up with traffic or hauling the occasional Home Depot load.

As much as I miss mine, I still wouldn't pay almost $11K for one. Low mileage and pretty clean for being an East Coast van.

$11k? I paid $12k for my 1989 brand new, 2.5L 5-speed. Had just over 110,000 when it got totaled when my wife got rear ended by a fire chief (1997 or so), still ran like a top.

That's funny. I'll bet that thing sat on the dealer's lot FOREVER when it was new. When I was selling cars, I had a guy sit down with me. He wanted to order a Voyager that was less money than what we were selling on the lot: V6 shorty, 7 pass, air, tilt, cruise, $17,995. So we price out a 4 cyl, 5 passenger, no A/C. He's thinking $14-15K, tops. I showed him the sheet. Just shy of $19K. Well, he loses it. I tried to explain that A/C was a no-cost upgrade, 7 passenger was a no-cost upgrade, and that we pretty much had to sell a factory order at MSRP, less any rebates. Well, he ended up getting belligerent to the point my sales manager had to kick him out of the store. He traipsed around to at least half a dozen Chrysler dealers, and wandered back to us 6 months later and bought one from stock, at the advertised special price.

The dealer that I worked at in that era had no problem whatsoever with S-body van turn-around. They were that popular here. So popular that even a nearby Chevrolet franchise gobbled up as many as they could find for re-sale. We had a 5-speed s-body, it wasn't that bad when I got to drive it. We even had an emerald green P-body Duster 3.0L 5 speed that was pretty cool too.

There's a turbo 2.5 five speed one on BaT right now.
