I found that the tan wire is what feeds the fuse for the dash lights. I had jumped the black/yellow to the yellow which is for the door switch or ??? That is why my dome light stayed on with the jumper. I could kick myself now that I see it in hindsight.

That is the only downside to jumping the dimmer wheel. When I had the jumper on the other set of wires, it made the dome light stay on constant. Jump the two wire terminal and the tan to get full power dash lights.
