Maybe someone can help me out:

I need the (precise) distance between the front of a 3-ring (!) ATI Super Damper and the block face (timing cover mounting flat) for a 440 engine. This can easily be measured as the forward facing flat of the oil pump cover mounting face is on the same plane as the timing cover (next to the timing cover bolt on the right side of the picture).
This is for a drawing - so suggestions for spacers etc. don't help me - I need the measurement.

Thanks

ATI makes different hubs that are going to give you different measurements.

There are only two 3 ring dampers for a 440 and stock timing cover: 917122E (steel) or 917474E (aluminum). Either one should be ok for the measurement

My engine is using the ATI for the Indy cover (longer damper hub), so I can't take your measurement.
But here is the 917122E drawing, the damper hub goes against the timing gear face. So if you can measure from the timing gear to the block timing cover surface, you should have your info.

On my engine, with the ATI 917475E damper, from the damper shell surface (0.100" from pulley mount surface), to the block face is 2.74"
I am using a Jesel belt drive, not a stock timing chain and gear. I don't know if that changes things.
So I believe with the 917122E damper, this measurement is 0.250" less (2.74 - 0.25 = 2.49").

ATI charts use to say none of here three ring dampeners would fit correctly on a stock 440 motor so the stock pulleys would align correctly scope work up
I called them about that 10-12 yrs. ago and they said the chart was correct and accurate. they said to use their 2 ring dampeners for a stock application, non race shruggy

Thank you Jim! That helps a lot / basically answers my question as I found an old post of yours that has the missing dimension/confirms the difference between the 917475E and 917422E:
