Driving through beautiful rural areas does seem to help the brain.
On Kentucky Derby day I will confirm that driving on narrow, winding, tree lined, country roads through Thoroughbred Horse farm country helps the mind even though there is the real danger of a head on collision with pickups pulling horse trailers, wide farm equipment, or “going too fast” Amazon, Fed Ex, or UPS delivery vans.
I personally knew both a Cardiologist and a Lawyer who died while riding bicycles on such roads.
I have good memories driving a Sunbeam Tiger 260 (owned by Chrysler back then) through the “many shades of green“ country sides of England, Scotland and Wales.
