Was a pretty unique car originally, if the FT can be trusted. Looks like a nice build, though not something I'd personally do, but I see a fair amount of leakage underneath from various sources. Oil pan took a pretty good impact and requires a close look. I'm no expert on E-bodies, but I wouldn't expect that every part is correct for its current configuration, but it's a modified restoration. Nice to have some documentation, looks like a decent file for the car. Barring any significant issues, if it appeals to you, it seems worth looking into. Some things can only be checked in person, of course. Price indicates to me that the owner would take $60-65,000 for it.

I would find it hard to go just because of the reputation of the listing dealer....I get they consign cars, but they are not exactly considered a top notch operation.
Never, ever argue with an IDIOT. They will drag you to their level and then beat you with their years of experience

Key word is "TRIBUTE" meaning not real! It is a Challenger convertible that came with a 383. Didn't look at the tag to see other details. But a 440 6 pack with 8 3/4 is not right, Should have done a correct "tribute" and put in a dana. Not to mention the toque boxes and frame rail connectors since the real ones liked to twist themselves.

Agreed, For me I would lose the sixpack and the shaker and put it back to a factory air car and drive the snot out of it. Although I do admit when it comes to red interior cars I can get a little biased

All convertible Challengers and Barracuda's came with the torque boxes from the factory. Was not aware of that, Still needs frame connectors. Seen a # of convertibles with stress cracks at the top front(by the door) on the quarter panes.

Very rare car if it is a true four-speed. i.e. 1 of 31 made w/a four-speed.
Does look like a true H51 AC car ($$$ option).
If the transmission #s match (23-spline it would have been I think), then that helps a lot.
FT does look a bit too "fresh".

Originally had black/white interior so...
that interior (red) looks awfully OEM-looking. I.e. doesn't look like any of it looks dye'd.
I would need to see the cowl stamp and radiator stamp to make sure this isn't a re-body where the original car had originally red interior.

That jack hook!!! The red top would have to go. The redline tires would have to go, and that oil pan would most definitely go! Other than that it is pretty nice for the price. Check the VIN on both the radiator support and the top of the cowl to see if the las 8 match the tag on the dash. If I remember correctly, that is not an R/T because the VIN is JH27N0B instead of JS27N0B. It was just a plain Challenger conv with a 383, but a nice one if the tag ain't fake. Back then, the insurance companies were cracking down on the R/T cars, so ordering a JH code Challenger with the N code 383 was a way to get around the insurance surcharges. My friend has a JH27N automatic Challenger convertible, it is essentially the same car as the R/T less the emblems and stripes.

I am far from a numbers guy or correct everything. Too boring... I like the car, but as mentioned above the top and redline tires would have to go. Yes, tag looks reproduced. And, why not painted to match the car. Because it was remade after the car was already painted more than likely. Nice car , but not $80,000 nice to me.

Good luck in your search for a Challenger conv. I looked for 6 years in the 80's, in 7 different states! What I could afford at the time was too rough to be fixed, and the ones that were decent and fixable were out of my price range. I had pretty much given up looking by 1987. I was a lineman at the power company, and one rainy day when we couldn't work, we were patrolling lines for rotten poles and potential trouble spots. I saw the ass end of a 71 Challenger just inside a shed on a farm where I was checking poles. It was covered up with a green canvas Army tent. I went and lifted the tent up to look and saw the original conv top hanging in rags on the bows. I asked the owner if they would sell it and she wanted to keep it because she bought it new her senior year in high school. She took my number in case she changed her mind. Well, in 1989 she called me! I bought it and traded her a 70 Challenger hardtop also. It's just a factory 318 car, but I fixed it up to suit me, but it's not a clone of anything. I still own it, and have turned down stupid money for it several times! The struggle is real....but don't give up and one might fall in your lap like it did mine!
