Isn't that the car Steve Juliano was trying to buy for basically forever ? While I was never a fan of that front end - admittedly I'm not much of a custom-car guy - it's a significant car in terms of the RTS show cars.
Wow, so cool to see that it actually exists after rumors that it was no longer with us!

I think Steve was trying to buy this cuda years ago.Wonder why it came out now?Either way its cool to see it outside!

I wonder if the rest of the collection stayed together after they were auctioned?

Ill take that over the 2010ish "Pro Touring" Cable TV- Chip Foose garbage that still ruins mopars to this day.
The worst was Bitchin Rides killing a nice 67 R/T Dodge into the chopped top mess they created.
Regardless of whether it was an R/T, I actually kinda liked what they did with the roof, but agree with you on the rest.
To me the R/T represented when the TV producers (re:$$$$$$) started influencing their designs. Had it the R/T been built more subtly like their '64 and '67 Pontiacs, it would have been sooooooo much better.
Well, it'll cross the auction block at Mecum - Indy. My guess is the owner didn't need the money when Steve Juliano wanted it, or didn't like his offer; but years later, it's time to let it go.
The video on e-bodies.org is so much better and interesting than the one here.
I appreciate the video here and it is fine, but it is just a sanitized look at an object.
The video on e-bodies.org is gritty and is in the moment. I think it is excellently done because it makes you feel as if you are at the moment of discovery. I think it is a WOW video.
From someone close to me that I know that was on the trail of this Cuda for the past year, the owner of it acquired it in 1976 - not sure if he bought it from Chuck Miller, or if someone else had it. Anyway, this guy is very old now & had to move to an assisted living facility, & his home & belongings were being liquidated by some estate management company. The company had NO idea what this car was, or what it was worth, & several guys who had been pursuing it for years were trying to acquire it before it vanished - they wanted to get it out of his garage before something stupid happened to it! There was also a problem trying to locate the title. Someone did finally legally buy the car from the old man or the estate management, & now that owner is going to run it through the auction next month in Indy. I'm predicting it will bring over a million. As far as I know, the Sonic Cuda has still not been found. This RTS Cuda (to me) is a SPECTACULAR car!
I assume the 70 GTX was lost? I read that the duster was auctioned off at a Chrysler surplus auction in 75 or 76, I guess the others were sold the same way?

Its a shame that Steve was never able to get all 4 cars back together before he passed. I know the owner is free to do what he wants, but if the story told is true, he was a typical tool.......

Not really, seems he just didnt like him. Ive been on test drives and been so turned off by the potential buyer that there was nothing they could say to get my car. You probably have to

There seems to be a thing out there in Internetland where people feel free to pass judgment on how owners handle their personal belongings and property. Been seeing it with the Black Ghost, and this is no different. Sorry, but "I know the owner is free to do what he wants" doesn't count as a disclaimer. Peeps need to MYOB and let people live their lives as they see fit.

It just reminded me as one of those 'Imma gonna fix it up one day' moments. I don't have any idea what transpired or what either individual was like. From my vantage point, if not sell it out right to Steve, why not loan/rent it to him when showing the other cars? Just seems like something could have been worked out instead of keeping it squirreled away.

Did that owner really "enjoy" owning that car for all those years? I guess he could have; but seems to be a very reclusive/elusive enjoyment. So sad: but I guess he "Did It My Way".

I think Steve shot himself in the foot when he did the magazine article bragging about how he stole the other three cars for chump change. He stated aloud,"I would have paid ten times what I paid for the 70 RTS Road Runner"..
It's a shame Steve couldn't have bought it!He would have taken great car of it whatever it needed and he probably would have paid whatever the guy wanted.

Steve told us when he went to get the 70 RTS roadrunner that when Steve asked how much he wanted for it the guy told Steve he couldn't afford it and told Steve 10,000.So Steve went out his car took out 10,000 dollars out of 100,000 gave it to him and bought the car.Sounds more like the got cocky and Steve gave him what he wanted, but was ready to give him 100,000.I bought a 69 roadrunner out of a junkyard in philadelphia years ago,we got it running in the junkyard a friend said go pay the guy before anyone jumps on it I did.I double checked the price 535 dollars out of nervousness,he said NO!I told you 575 I said no problem I had extra cash on me,paid the guy then his phone started ringing off the hook with higher offers he told me you probably want to give me more money I told him no then flatbedded it home.

"Ive been on test drives and been so turned off by the potential buyer that there was nothing they could say to get my car. You probably have to"
that is exactly the reason i still have my charger today. [many, many] years ago, a buyer showed up with the bux i was asking, and it went exactly as the above............ the car has stayed with me since 1970, and i guess i'll have to figure out what happens to it in my will. [if i ever get around to writing one..... ]
This was told to me by the buyer who bought the car from the old man's estate. The neighbor of the old man told his friend the buyer that there was a Cuda in his neighbor's garage. He came out to look at the car and bought it on site knowing what the car was, for a low price. He in turn found some interested buyers, and ended up selling it to the Brothers Collection in Oregon, knowing it would be perserved for history. The buyer did show me pictures of the day he found it in the old man's garage. All this was told to me in June of 2022 at the Eyes on Design show in Grosse Pointe at the Ford Mansion that I was invited to show my Hemi Dart. The car was found in Sterling Heights Michigan about 2 1/2 miles from where I grew up. Nobody spoke of the car back in the day.

To them you're a for-profit social media guy, I wouldn't assume they told you the truth about anything, especially considering how they've been handling things with the car (and the guy that shot video a year ago that wasnt allowed to even post it)

Nobody knows what has really gone on with the car. People are just speculating and jumping to conclusions from Chinese whispers. 99% of what you read or has been posted above is completely wrong. I've been involved directly with this whole thing since we dug it out of the garage in Sterling Heights, Michigan. If anyone has an questions, I'm happy to answer them to the best of what I'm allow to say.

Regardless its an ignorant way to sell a car (what they're doing). Put entire story out, blast across social, MSM then picks it up - then it rolls at auction.
This is a way better car than that black ghost made up fairy tale

If we could buy either one we'd buy the RTS cuda.Itl probably go for ...750,000...The black ghost hemi challenger has a great history and clearly a family hirloom.Probably a 1 or 2 million dollar car.If we got the cuda we'd. Drive it locally and show it to people that hadn't seen it.And shows like chryslers at carlisle.

I hadn't really heard much about this challenger until this past year.I would easily rather have Jimmy Addisons Siver Bullit Gtx over this challenger too!

The auction on the RTS Cuda was very exciting! We enjoyed it! 2 million dollars who'd a thunk it lol they said the owner who was sellingtthe cuda wanted everyone to see the car.So I guess we'll see what happens. They showed Chuck Miller signing autographs on a mecum magazine that had the RTS Cuda on it.That would be a cool collectable to add to my RTS memorabilia collection I have from The Steve Juliano collection from mecum.

That was an interesting aside; the owner hid the car away for a half century and now says that he hopes the new owner will show the car. The pre-auction estimate was $500k to $700k. And it actually stalled there for a while. And then BOOM!
$2,000,000
The Black Ghost brought just under a million.
Values of collectable muscle cars may slide..........eventually. But that point is still a ways off if these results count for anything.

I predicted the RTS Cuda was going to bring over a million, & the Challenger around $325,000. I was wrong on both, but everybody I knew was waaay underestimating the RTS Cuda. I think it brought what it deserved. The Challenger on the other hand I thought went for WAAAAAY more than it should have.
I should have bought the '71 Roadrunner back in '94 for $25,000 - it was here for sale locally!

Hey Ryan, what's with the hood? Did it get slammed down on something? Looks like a 10 second tweak would help. I'm glad this story has a happy ending and the car is back out in public. Make sure your journal your conversations and experiences that are hush hush right now. Might make good fodder for a chapter in a book someday down the road. I'll always wish that Steven had been able to own this car. It could not have been in better hands. I will always wonder why the guy and his son held out on him. What I do wonder is what Steven would have done to it. He had the other's restored for obvious reasons. I wonder if he would have had it gently detailed like a fine painting, or documented and completely redone. I envy you being able to hang with a guy like Chuck Miller for a while. Question. I know that they were looking for the Sonic Cuda back in 2009-10. What's the current dope on that car? I know there is an old moparts post with Steven discussing what he knew. Did anyone ever locate and document it?
I’m listening.

Best i remember the cars location / owner has been known by a few people since the 90s , maybe earlier. But always same story. NOT FOR SALE
It was not, I've had a few conversations with the owner. And Steve is the only one that was able to track the owner down. And he wasn't ever able to even find the actual location of the car. Yes if you knew the owner, you knew the car. But the neighbor who had lived there for 20 years had no idea.
And I don't know about the hood, they had just shut it after having it up for the cameras.
It sat fine before.

You are correct!! Brothers were given a number to buy! Don't know if they got snaked by a buyer who paid more!! That's the buyer who auctioned the car off for a Huuuuuuuuge profit!!
