Question for electricians here. My little house has 300 amp service actually 2 x 150amp that goes to 2 150A panels . Which panel is the neutral-ground point? Since you can only have one NG point. I have been researching generators and got me wondering.I know could just take the panel covers off and look but I wouldn't know why one vs the other, Thanks for any info. Both are. From the 2017 NEC: 250.58 Common Grounding Electrode. Where an ac system is connected to a grounding electrode in or at a building or struc‐ ture, the same electrode shall be used to ground conductor enclosures and equipment in or on that building or structure. Where separate services, feeders, or branch circuits supply a building and are required to be connected to a grounding elec‐ trode(s), the same grounding electrode(s) shall be used.

Are these fed a) each from a separate meter or b) each fed separately from a single meter c) one panel is fed from the other b) each fed separately from a single meter One panel contains mostly 120v loads, Second panel has well pump, heat pump and furnace (90A breaker that goes to small sub panel).

So all the panels are on the same structure? The bond need to be at the first or main point of disconnect. So if you have one meter feeding a main panel the bond needs to be at that panel. If you have a meter feeding a main braker or disconnect then to a panel then the bond needs to be in the disconnect switch.

In general, I don't believe that code allows multiple services to feed a single residence but I would need to look it up to be sure. Really need more info to properly answer your question.

The neutral is the wire that is part of the 3 wire service and hooks up to the large buss in panel. Normally bare on overhead service, yellow coated on underground direct bury cable, but can be a regular black wire with white tape. The ground is a wire that is smaller normally bare and go's to ground rod at base and hooks to the other bare buss in the panel. Yes and they both need to be bonded together at the first point of disconnect on a structure.
