Dont get too happy. The roofline is for a 4 door, it may be an optional 2 dr. And a noise machine for exhaust what a FN joke.
Electric is for vibrators and they can go F themselves with it

Looks better than I expected. The fake noise is a bit goofy. Still looks like a Dodge for now. As we transition over to electric, cars need to maintain their styling heritage. Certainly rivals a Tesla. Overall, not bad👍

He keeps referencing Direct Connection as if it's this enormous Mopar-focused Summit Racing but their website lists everything as out of stock no-ETA and nothing appears to be new since last I checked a few years ago.
Curious if the sound is actually mechanical noise from the electric motor or some sort of sound byte. I was impressed with the notion of multi-shift transmissions.

Id like to say its not for me but looking back I can say for myself over the years ive bought new muscle of all brands off the lot and modded them the first week and never had a regret. I missed the "new" off the lot 426 hemi era but was lucky to buy low mile ones less then 10 years old. Bought new 5.0s, grand nationals, early Zr1 vettes and vipers to the newer SRT cars and was never disappointed.
Im at the point I could coast my later years and probably not buy another new but some of these new EV-s seem decent and I will watch the next few years. Some say the first year, first run cars are at a disadvantage but not always IMO.

Electric is for vibrators and they can go F themselves with it I'm with you 110%! This whole forced transition to EV's is VERRRRY fishy! One thing the engineers can't engineer-out, is the fact that EV's can catch fire at ANY time - running or not. Don't park one in your garage or near your house!

I've seen uglier cars, but I didn't buy them either. The lines of the car don't flow that well, it looks like a 4 door that they converted to a two door (badly). They can keep their EV crap, I'll never have an interest in it. The power grid and the country aren't ready for EV's but they're being shoved down the public's throats like it or not. Like all the other auto manufacturers they're following the current winds. When those winds change they'll be left hanging out to dry again just like when they eliminated all the small fuel efficient cars and mainly built trucks and then the price of gas skyrocketed back in 2008.
Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

Like all the other auto manufacturers they're following the current winds. I honestly don't understand the "heritage" marketing gimmick when those it's aimed at aren't interested. Just embrace the new for the new customers. As for how it came to this, CNBC claims Dodge's parent company Stellantis is among the worst-ranked auto manufacturers in terms of fuel economy and carbon emissions. Stricter emission regulations were apparently forcing Dodge's hand, even leading it to buy carbon credits from Tesla for a whopping $300 million.

I haven't don't much research on it yet but I haven't heard much about Dodge charging stations or their intended charging network etc like Ford has been touting. If they're going full EV I'm assuming they have something covered. Good time to be a mobile electrician tho, these 100amp dedicated charging circuits aren't something most can do themselves.
They're pushing the heritage because it's pandering. They know if they can convince Dodge loyalists "hey this is just like your 70' Superbird, it's just electric!" Then they'll sell em.

I like it. If I had to buy an EV, that would be at the top of my list.
IF Dodge gets the battery and electrical right. Their first foray into electrics, and Dodge is not exactly known for quality (although my Charger and Durango have been trouble free- as they should be since they've been building them for more than a decade).
I wonder how much it weighs and how it handles. No doubt it will be fast in a straight line.

The front looks like a modern Camaro, the roofline looks like the copied a ten year old Cadillac and it looks like a four door car very poorly made into a two door vehicle! The design is horrible at best! I don't see current hellcat owners buying this steaming pile of electric crap! We are watching the demise of the Dodge brand!

Is it even electric? I am thinking they just put that body on a challenger chassis, its probably a V6! It does look like a poorly cobbled up Challenger.

The fake engine noise thing reminds me of vegan food that tries to imitate real meat. If the new product is so darn good, why are you trying to imitate the real thing???

I like it as well. It isn't perfect but it is a big improvement over most of the other offerings. They have some real good ideas put into it. I think they could have extended the tail another foot to really make it look like an old charger.

Few things I find interesting is. The wing built into the upper grill area that will ad in sticking a corner The wheels have one center lugnut A full length console like the 66 charers had For the on3s that say they won't sell.....depending on price they will sell the crap out of them if. It's under 80k(I doubt it's under100k)
Change the wheel to a 5 spoke and have the "exhaust " sound where can turn it off then I will like it more. I think it's bad a$$

Electric is for vibrators and they can go F themselves with it The guy I watched covering the unveiling said 14,000 people have placed a pre order. Is this a COMMITMENT TO BUY or is it a refundable deposit? Fanboys, social media people and traditional media people are all hyping EVs- yet the public who is expected to buy EVs are silent. I hear coworkers past and present fawn over the thought of owning a Challenger- Mustang- Corvette. I hear NOBODY fawning over ANY of the current EV offerings. No one wants this.

" As so much of the world works to pivot away from fossil fuels and the internal-combustion engine, a new study from the University of California, Davis, published in the journal Nature Energy last week, showed some concerning signs for what the auto industry still needs to get right. According to this study, which looked at California EV owners specifically between 2015-2019, 18% of electric vehicle owners switched back to a gas-powered car. For plug-in hybrid owners, 20% of them flipped back to a car solely powered by an engine." www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/ev-owners-switch-gas-power-study

He gives a good sales pitch but considering the electronics on my Dodge Charger, stereo navigation units known defects, electric fans known defects and oil pressure sending units always pooping out I am a little concerned that Dodge is making an all electric car when they can't even make components right. No talk on sticker price yet and I am sure you'll need to sell your house and first born if you ever need take it to the dealership. Maybe a pessimist but I am not sold yet. As far as the industry they want electric cars and it's not all about carbon foot prints.

This thing will get orders too, but its just a concept that I am certain will change a lot before the production model is shown. It seems very confused at the moment

I agree the concept reminds me of the concept 2 door released before the current 4 door charger. And something about piped music annoys me. But I supposed if it has an awesome amp and speakers and I can switch from "Exhaust Note" to "Rob Zombie" I will not complain.
Legislating change is always suspect and I'm sure there is a lot of money being provided to our leaders to make sure we convert from millions of small carbon emitters on the road to fewer very large carbon emitters. At least mining the rare earth metals for batteries keeps children in poor nations employed so we can feel good about that. A lot of that will be coming from northern Ontario Canada. They have a business minded leader that has Brampton and Windsor Chrysler plants locked in and they're saying entirely new towns will be sprouting up in the north to support the new mines. Tesla is even in talks to build a plant there. Chrysler is building 2 new battery plants, one in Ontario with LG and one in Michigan with Samsung I believe. Windsor will supposedly be building the new charger/challenger and Brampton is slated for new product as well.

At the end of the day, what matters is how quick it is. Tesla Plaid runs low 9s. Those with stripped interiors and sticky tires, are running in the 8s, which is truly mind boggling for a 4500-4800 lb luxury sedan. This is partially why Bugatti cashed-in the chips and merged with Rimac, it's game over. Charger Banshee absolutely MUST be in the very low 9s and/or be very cheap relative to Tesla. They will not be able to match Tesla's ADAS magic or software UI, so performance is really all they have. The cell supplier is extremely important for cost, availability and performance. Given the supply chain constraints right now, most of the dance partners have been chosen: Tesla+Panasonic+BYD (plus their own 4680 cell, made in Austin) GM+LG Chem Ford+CATL Maybe Stellantis + Samsung SDI? https://insideevs.com/news/589228/stellantis-plans-combat-battery-shortage-recession/It takes ~10 years to permit a mine and get the spice flowing, so we are almost tapped-out on the mineral supply side, with the exception of China/Russia. Any mine in a western country (US/Canada or Europe) will have jackasses holding signs with sad faces and virtue politics that don't really affect China/Russia. South America may be at capacity for anode material, but Indonesia is scaling up cathode material for Tesla ($5B contract signed) https://electrek.co/2022/08/08/tesla-tsla-secures-deal-5-billion-worth-nickel-indonesia-official/800V architecture will help a lot (which is what Porsche and Lucid do too). The fact that Tesla can do what they do with less than 800V is kind-of scary, TBH. Plaid+ or Roadster 2.0 will likely be 800V and 4680 structural cells, which will have new physics. I REALLY want there to be go-fast options at "reasonable cost" besides Tesla. Fords Mach-E (Mex-E) is kind of a joke. GM has nothing really (Hummer EV doesn't really count). Kia EV6 600hp version could be real in a year or so, but super low volume production, me-too car, kind of like Hummer EV. So the market is kind of soft here, and maybe Dodge has a chance if they can get cells or a full pack at reasonable cost and volume. Going toe-to-toe with Tesla on EV performance is extremely difficult. and in a way, Tesla is a lot like Legacy Chrysler of 60-70 yrs ago: Small, engineering-centric, scrappy, resourceful, and proud. I wish Dodge/Stellantis luck, and I will consider buying a Charger Banshee if it's competitive with a Plaid for ~75% of the cost.

No doubt it will be fast. But that's not all it needs to be for enthusiasts. The sound and the feel of a RWD V8 cannot be duplicated. Steering with the rear wheels is a blast. The roar from a V8 tuned right with the right exhaust is music to so many of our ears.
Facts are stubborn things.

I agree the concept reminds me of the concept 2 door released before the current 4 door charger. Actually the concept was a 4 door. Look closely. Oh you cant because this site won't let you do it. When is somebody going to fix this? Here is the link to the pic https://www.motortrend.com/vehicle-...eid=4908a6ba-7049-470d-87b2-8dad672081d2 yeah they hacked that up before production and I'll bet they do the same again twocents Yeah exactly, Doesn't even look remotely like the concept. But the new one is a bit closer to what a real "Charger" looks like but they still have work to do. looks like they chopped off about 2 feet off the back of it.

Looks better than I expected. The fake noise is a bit goofy. Still looks like a Dodge for now. As we transition over to electric, cars need to maintain their styling heritage. Certainly rivals a Tesla. Overall, not bad👍 You will be transitioning alone,I will never own one! Me neither

I stand corrected on which vehicle has 14k pre orders. I see all media outlets- legacy and internet/social all giving glowing endorsements about EVs that are not even available to buy. EVs are not coming because the public wants them- they're coming because they're being forced. Just because they're forced does not mean the public wants. Fanboys all remark how the first automobiles were shunned because the horse and buggy was what people liked. The ice automobile overtook the horse and buggy only when Henry Ford made an AFFORDABLE car.... AND private (Yes very rich) individuals invested in selling gasoline at stations (I'm aware there was probably some government subsidies in building the stations). So you had the affordable car and appropriate infrastructure to fuel them and gone was the H&B. EVs have been around for over 100 years- had tons of offered $$ subsidies throughout the past century yet they have not taken off. None of them are affordable and no rich folks are clamoring to invest their money into building recharge stations in any meaningful quantity. Yea they accelerate quickly- more so than the gas car. Big deal. Gas cars are affordable, burn clean (meet government emissions when sold new), can be serviced by the owner and/or numerous shops, can be refueled at one of the 145,000 stations in the US and can be refueled to max in under 5 minutes. Yes ICE vehicles emit pollutants but so do the 3,400 fossil fuel-fired electrical power plants active in the US.
Keep old mopars alive.

Not certain but hearing rumors this 2 door will replace challenger and a 4 door will be made as well. So just a 2dr and 4dr charger, we'll have to wait and see though. From a business standpoint this seems logical.

Considering that every sedan and coupe offering from Tesla looks like crap and their cars are smoking fast but they don't really advertise the performance, I think this is an absolute home run for Dodge. You know that it will look, feel and go faster because that's FCA's goal. Tesla did the safe thing other than their roadster, which face it, was window dressing. The Charger already looks tons better and actually attempts performance. If they can keep the price even with Tesla, look out.
All that said, I doubt I will ever pony up for an electric vehicle. There are multiple reasons besides the price but I think the biggest one is how they talk to the mother ship and you are completely dependent on the dealer service center for help when the car goes [censored] up in any way.
I’m listening.
