Newsflash there sniper; there is a difference (big difference) between those competently serving their country in a ship designed to do it and those idiots that know nothing about when and how to go out playing. Really?? No [censored]? Well who would have though_ Still dumbasses in the military, some of them even wore khakis. Some of them even made Captain of a ship no less. I'll loan you the 't' that you missed. Were you any better as a sailor than you are at spelling? Or are you just an expert on dumb asses? I picked you out of the crowd, so yeah I am an expert on dumbasses. When did you do that?

Is that inlet always like that or just at a certain condition of the tide? I don't know why you'd go in and out of there if it's always that bad. I live in Minnesota, so I don't know anything about driving a small boat into the ocean. What is it that these boaters are doing that are making their boats swamp versus those who know how to do it?

Haulover is one of the roughest channels in Florida and it also gets a lot of traffic. It has so many incidents that there are video cameras there all the time watching the show. YouTube is full of Haulover videos. From what I can tell the trick is to hug the north side of the channel and give the boat some power so you keep the nose up. The worst fails are where the boater pulls back on the throttle and buries the bow into a wave. The most successful ones tend to be people who just go balls out and fly over the swells. Makes for some entertaining videos that is for sure.

Andy, except for the one guy who totally gunned it and submarined the bow of the boat!

Being bow heavy is the number one no-no in rough water. Get them people to the rear of the boat so that the bow has a chance to ride OVER the wave rather than to plow into it.

I watch this channel, and the boat ramp channel, to make sure I am never tempted to buy a boat.
Besides, with my Charger I am already half living the old boat owners joke about the two happiest days of their life.

Funny Greg. I watch both of those also.

Is that inlet always like that or just at a certain condition of the tide? I don't know why you'd go in and out of there if it's always that bad. If it's anything like Destin Pass (near me), it's not always that bad. But when it is you can rest assured that rookie captains and tourists are gonna go out and "have some fun!" There are several factors that stir it up, weather, tide and large boats are the main ones.

The Blue Top Legend girls are always fun to watch. They fly across that inlet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AfyJJdsM1II don't know who the girls are but there are a ton of videos on YouTube of them speeding back and forth across that inlet. Sofia [the driver] and Ariana were always a hoot to watch. They are twins, now 18 and in college, as of this fall. They first were noticed last summer going all out in their '88 model 13' Boston Whaler, with a little 50 HP engine. Hopping and jumping waves like the Duke boys on water. Here is a good video of the girls...kind of a day in the life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yglOjZK3jow
