After 12 1/2 years, I just got tired of looking at the hood and flag on the front fenders, and also hearing about the chevy hood being the reason my car runs good. So I set out to install the Hemi hood and take the checkered flag off the front fenders, and ended up sanding the whole car and painting it because the color didn't quite match . It will take some getting used to, lol, but at least the Hemi scoop is on now. More pics when it's finished bolted back together.

Do you like it better this way?
here is the old paint

Car looked good before, I assume your going to post pics of after as well?

As long as you like it, it doesn't matter what we think.

this is when we discovered it didn't match.
the paint on this car is almost 13 yrs old, and I knew there was a chance this would happen, and sure enough.

thanks smokinwoody.
just trying to get used to the change.
should have all the outside back together this weekend. Tailpanel, parachute, and front bumper will help alot, I think.

They are in there, lol. At the front anyway.
I didn't get the motor in yet to see where the carb is going to be for sure. I think it will be fine. I don't plan on going too much faster with this car. And you have been 160 plus mph, so I'm sure my measly 145 to 150 will be ok.
Thanks again for your help Tony.

even at 140+ you need that support in the center. Without it ,you will see the scoop BULGED at the finish line for sure...dont forget, i got a nice camera now so if you need more detailed pics of what i got, let me know....
Fresh paint looks great nice job

I prefer the cowl hood myself. Like the color, maybe add a tail stripe?

Ron, I believe you have started something with the scoop change.

Looked good with the cowl. I hope it doesn't get airborne grabbing all that air at speed, I know my buddy had that peoblem with the hemi scoop and had to put in a lot of pins to keep it on.

I hope so. I love the vintage look on our Mopars with the correct scoop that was used on them. And the 68 Dart's and Cuda's look just right with the correct Hemi scoop. Ron

I love the color,a tail stripe would love nice too but i would of went with a 6-pack scoop instead...a HEMI scoop is too big,for me anyway.
i do love the car though!!!

The Hemi scoop looks great. Much better than the old one.

But then again I'm hardly an impartial critic......

Looks much better with out the flags. I like both hoods, with that Hemi hood you better add more hood pins don't ask me how i know.

The color has more Gold in it now than Orange.
It will have the GTS tail stripe on it and I'm now debating on putting the vinyl top back on it, but not 100% sure yet. I have added enough weight to it, lol.
I just finished up all the trim and front bumper this evening, and that makes a big difference. When I get the tail panel on and the motor back in, I'll take a few more pics.

Thanks guys for the compliments!

I didn't get rid of the cowl hood Mike. It is painted for my Sons car. I hope to have his progress pics here real soon. He is 16 now and really getting anxious to get it done.
Talk to you soon.
