What do you think is the most sinister, evil looking car ever built by Dodge? Here's a pic of my choice, 1959 Dodge Coronet.

I think that picture is a Custom Royal or Royal, not a Coronet.
I had a 1959 Coronet for several years back in the early 1960s, it didn't have the emblem on the upper front fenders like shown on this car in the picture scope
BTW, it was pink and white whistling
Not sinister at all to me shruggy

The site it was on had it listed as a 1959 Coronet Custom Royal, so you're most likely correct.

Part of the makeup of those older cars was personality. Every car was unique, today just a sea of silver and tan boxes. Every time Japan comes out with a new design its copy city.

Chrysler has done pretty good with the 300 Charger and Challenger standing out in design and the Rams up until the current ones.

There have always been a lot of cars that look similar over the decades but it is worse now. It was said once recently that a big part of it is the standards. When lights have to be a certain size, incorporate safety features, aerodynamics for fuel efficiency things start looking more and more similar.

My cousin has a 59 Coronet (may be a Royal, not sure) in his barn. Was in nice condition, but needed some TLC. He moved it to his barn for a graduation party and never moved it back to the garage. Raccoons got into it and tore it all up. Sad. Was a two tone pink.

of all the '50's fin cars i like the '58 and '59 dodge the best. they'd make a neat resto-mod; nothing too radical. i had a '58 plymouth and a '59 desoto when i was much younger. cousin had a cool looking black '58 desoto 2drhtp.

Years before the 1970-1974 Challenger cemented the name with the car-buying public, the Challenger label was used, briefly, on a special promotional model of the Dodge Coronet. Introduced on May 1, 1959 to spice up the summer sales season, the Silver Challenger was offered only as a two-door Club Sedan, and as the name suggests, only in metallic silver paint.

When I had my '59 Coronet coupe, kids would sometimes yell "hey Batman."

As a kid folks had a 1959 Dodge Royal Sierra (Spectator?) Station Wagon. Very cool kid jump seats in the back and the rides home at night laying down in the back looking up through the sloping tailgate glass watching the stars swirl around corners was very awesome.
Smoker dad set fire to the wiring under the dash once when the cig lighter was heating. As a kid sitting in the middle of the front seat, I was, "uuuuuuu, DAD!" as smoke then fire dripped toward my feet.
Soon later it was replaced by a 1960 Thunderbird as the wiring issues were endless with that wagon.
sinister, maybe not, hideous, yes.
I also remember this. Push button automatic. Failed crossing the golden gate bridge travelling to grand ma's house on the peninsula. Failure mid span. Tow truck shows up and after getting quote dad says, "no-way" he fiddled with the buttons at the tow attendant watched on, somehow got it into reverse and he and family crossed traffic and slowly backed back to the Marin side parking area and awaited AAA.

I saw the title of this thread, and I'm totally on board - the fin era immediately came to my mind too. I even recall this photo I posted on my FB page after seeing it for sale on Hemmings. I posted "If the Devil had a choice of cars..".. yeah - the hardtop body, the fins, the grinning grille, and the black-on-red... saved this copy to my photo album.. . 9 passenger to carry all those souls he steals..

All black, dog dish caps, no extra lights, full CHP package. It's the vehicle equivalent of the drill sergeant/drill instructor. R. Lee Ermey in vehicle form.

I saw the title and I figured I would have to show what I thought was the most sinister. But apparently most already knew.
Here’s mine. Always wanted one and found just 80 miles from my house. Put some dog dishes I had laying around to check the look. Going to probably use the factory caps though.

It’s a custom royal lancer. The lancer is not shown anywhere on the car but it’s on the buildsheet. It’s a one owner mostly original paint car. It has the 361 engine and cool options like swivel seats and the mirrormatic rear view mirror that automatically adjusts itself. It’s nice to have an armrest in a car this old. I had a 68 charger, but this car gets a lot more attention than the 68. Besides the push button transmission. Another cool feature is the speedometer. There is a bar that goes across. From 0 to 30 the bar is green. From 30 to 50 the entire bar turns orange. 50 on up its red. I always wanted what I call a Jetson car. (Bubble top with fins) and this car captures the look perfectly.

I love the patina on that 57. Only thing I would add is the teeth on the lower bumper. Adds to the sinister look.

I hadn't heard or knew about the Lancer on those cars confused
I bought and owned a 1959 Coronet 2 door hardtop with the 326 C.I Poly 2 barrel single exhaust motor that looked exactly like the 1959 318 Plymouth motor, I swap the two barrel intake and carb to guy for the 4 barrel intake and carb off of his parents 1959 Plymouth wagon and had dual exhaust with cut outs added to it. It had the two speed push button Powerflyte tranny, radio and heater and the same speedometer as your cars, not the fancy mirror though whiney
That car ended up with a 1957 392 Chrysler hemi with a 3 speed stick shift in it after I sold it the first time boogie devil

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

Mine has the 3 speed torqueflite. The heater controls hardly work as they work with the engine vacuum and the grease has dried up. That will be next winter’s project as I was pretty busy this winter tiding up, other things with the car. They are a whole different animal than the mid to late 60’s mopar. I cleaned off the factory undercoating as it was loose and falling off everywhere. Found one hole and fixed it by the driveshaft hump. And I replaced the driver’s side seat pan and brace and the only good new replacements come from a guy Sweden which is where a lot of these cars are.

Here’s mine. Always wanted one and found just 80 miles from my house. Put some dog dishes I had laying around to check the look. Going to probably use the factory caps though.

That is one awesome looking car!

Thank You. Took me 10 years to find it.

Not a car but still a Dodge, even powered by a 440.

Thanks,
There was a guy selling one that’s in Maryland on the West Virginia border that is a frame off restoration, but it’s still all apart. It’s also bagged and has a new 5.7 hemi. Paint is mint (black with orange fins). Had it priced in the mid 40’s. Chrome is all done which is very expensive do get redone as these cars have a lot of it.

Is it just me, or is that thing just itching for an SRT 6.4? Put some Nascar-style wide steelies on it, and some fatter rubber. Hooo, doggies!

Steely’s and wide tires are the plan to change things up from the stock look once in a while. I can’t imagine ever putting a new engine in it. If I did, it would have to be a B or RB based engine.
