My shop is 3000 sq ft. The house is slightly smaller. But they aren't connected.

My house is 1400ft, shop is 3000, all under 1 roof, six bay doors and each one can handle an RV. It’s a bachelor pad for sure.

When I was house shopping 1 1/2 years ago, I joked to people that I wanted a large garage with a small detached house... grin
And I found it! House I bought has a 1400 sq ft garage with a walk-up loft, another 450 sf ft garage, and a 1700 sq ft house.

We're going to have around 850 sq ft of garage space attached to our 1,453 sq ft house. Theoretically we could add another 4-500 sq ft garage on the other side of the house, but we might exceed the maximum percentage of the lot covered.

I have a 900 sq ft attached garage and my shop is in a detached 100x60 ft building. Shop started out as a 40x60 then added another 40 ft to it. The race trailer and RV took up to much work space.

I work in the construction industry designing roofs and floor systems. Shouses (shop houses) are becoming more and more popular. There are a couple of them a few miles away from my house. My wife really likes them and said we could do that some day. The problem is finding a lot on a hard surface road big enough. We haven't found anything like that around here.

There is a house like that here near the Boise foothills area. Has three garages attached to it all in a row. Looks kinda stupid from the road and I'm actually surprised the city would let it thru. The old guy who owns it has it full of jet skis, a boat, atvs, and an RV/camper so it's just a storage facility for his toys.

Paste and street view this if you want to see it.

What puzzles me is when a couple "need", say, a 2400SF house...or worse, if their vehicles also sit outside their garage...
Seems backwards to me, but I've always been around guys who have shops and Did Stuff.
I just don't "know any better" laugh2

I have 900+ sq ft attached to my 1800 sq ft house as well. Guy down the street has a house similar to the OPs pic. He puts an RV in there with some other toys.

We have 2 brand new houses in our neighborhood. Both are 2400+ sq ft w/3 car attached garages and they still have cars/trailers/campers sitting outside because the garage if full of "stuff'

Mine isn't connected either, but 24x36 garage, same height as the one pictured, 2 bays, big doors, and a workshop. Right even with the front of the house and 8 feet away from the attached 2 car garage which I believe is 18x20. For years the wife complained that it looked like a garage with a house attached to it. We redid the interior of the house a couple of years back after 20 years of living with blah. Now the wife doesn't say anything except she likes the house so much that she would consider not moving when we retire.

I thought that was a townhouse or condo when I 1st looked at it. I thought all the garages were for multiple tenants.

My attached garage is 30x46, and has 2 levels. it works out to 2400sqft, of garage. I also put in attic trusses, and have 600 sqft of storage space above. When I first moved in, I thought there was no way i"d fill it up. 13 years later I have to park my daily driver outside... I do have cars in it though. Some of them not mine.

I'm guilty of having a shop larger than the house. Our house is about 2600sqft or so. My shop is 145' x 120', which works out to about 17,400 sqft. We are on 20 acres, though.

I didn't think about it until I saw this thread that I'm living this lifestyle now even though I'm a renter. The garage/storage space I'm renting is almost double the (sq ft) size of my apartment, BUT my apartment rent is double of what the garage/storage space costs. no

Mine is 3300 looking to make bigger (might have t move my shop business down) house is 2300 two story with 2 car garage and packed. One man should not keep this much stuff.

I hear ya! We bought the property with the building - I didn't build it. I do use a portion of the shop for my small engineering business. I like having a 30 second commute in the morning.

Beautiful set up 19swinger!
I used to work in a garage shorter and 3ft wider than my current enclosed trailer. I’m fortunate to have a 2 car garage and a 54x15 rv garage along side that. Still have to shuffle stuff around but I’m not complaining! Coolest part is the 12x18ft shed next to the garage. We insulated it and it’s the “machine shop” where all my tools are kept plus work benches and other engines. Keeps the big garage looking sanitary smile

You guys have some awesome and huge shops. Hell, I squeeze 3 cars, 5 quads, a golf cart, tool boxes, work bench, 2 welders, air compressor, refrigerator, some cabinets and a whole wall of shelves for parts all in a 2-1/2 car garage.

Organization is the key. If I cleaned mine up I’d have twice the space lol
