Yes we have ignition….engine is running, checking transmission fluid, keeping an eye on temperature, oil pressure and I see a small drip from the connection at the adapter on the radiator to the overflow tank. Grab a wrench, put my hand on top of the radiator and ……whack!
Ouch. I don’t like this car right now.

Cold case radiator, looking for a shroud now.

Pretty embarrassed,

That looks painful, but could of been a lot worse. Definitely better once you get that shroud fitted.

My fingers are never that clean even when I’m not working on the car smile

Man that had to hurt. Boy that looks like a nice, clean build. How about some more engine and car pictures. Sorry about your finger.

I bet that spawned a string of four letter words and I don't mean OUCH.

Yep, I broke the end bone of the same finger into 7 pieces and you can hardly tell now. Close to 30 years ago. When it happened you could see the bone where the nail should have been. Ahh just thinking about it right now made it throb a little.

The doc will take what’s left of the nail off then stitches. Get it cleaned up so no infection, diesel fuel works good. GO get it looked at, don’t wait or you’ll be put down with covid. Did same thing with a table saw, 15 years ago and no sign of cut today. I pulled the stitches out and never went back for follow up ‘therapy’

yep not a big fan of flex fans and you just illustrated one of them. Years ago my son was helping me leak down the race car that had a flex fan, and when we hooked up the leak gauge engine rolled over, my son had his hand on the radiator looking in, just about cut off his finger. Have not run a flex fan since. Electric is the way to go, safer and you can leave the fan run when engine is off, helps cool down quicker.

Ouch! I cut my hand at the track years ago on a flex fan with the engine not running, got a few stitches. After that I made sure I have a shroud now, or electric fans.
Your engine looks great!

ANY fan driven by the engine Will cut ya. Years ago some dudes leaning on the fender looking at a small block Chevy while the owner revved the heck out of it. (4 blade solid fan), one broke and almost decapitated one of the ‘lookers’ needless to say he dead. Freak accident yea but it can happen, stay alert and keep hands in your pockets and stay away from idiots.

as my old man taught me "smart a$$ery", i will state a couple of his favorite sayings : "I didn't feel a thing !" biggrin and : "I'll bet ya lernt something now !" devil
anyway, i hope your finger gets better ! really !
you may, or may not, want to see the doc. i guess it just depends on whether or not you believe in greasy shop rags as first responder care.
i have used shop rags my whole life on accidents like that for me, but for others, i recommend seeing the doc, unless your belief is like mine.
hope it gets better soon !

I can only imagine what my old man would’ve said!!

Thanks everyone for the kind words, still embarrassed and pi$$ed at myself!

I think I’ll start another post for an electric fan, at least looking for a shroud for now.

Wally.

My dad never joked around machinery, he cut his ring finger off at the first joint on a joiner when he was 16, board flopped over. Numerous other times thru the years but nothing like that. Lucky for me (knock on wood) nothing but the nick in 55 years in the cabinet business. Cars are a different thing, left a lot of blood in them.

Thanks John. Bought my Demon with my dad in ‘83 when I was 15. Been abused, neglected, forgotten about, now the last 5 years it’s getting a complete resto to drag race it the way I want it. Gotta figure we’re closer to the end than the beginning so doing it right this time.
Got a ways to go, finger is a minor setback, but hoping it’s going to be a fun summer!

Glad you're ok. Nice project. We've all got hurt or messed things up, it just happens when you get off the couch and do stuff IMO. Bests wishes!
