After the 71/72 Plymouth, the body choices were more block like rather then being aero friendly like what was required in NASCAR. Even under the Dodge banner, after the 74 Charger, Mopar really had nothing close to aero, it was so bad, NASCAR even allowed the 74 Charger body to be used an extra year past its 3 year old limit. The next Mopar body close to being aero fit was the 78 Dodge Magnum, and it was too wide. NASCAR racing (and any other form of racing) was killed with the government loan in 78/79.
It wasn't until NASCAR allowed the use of the 4 door body style in 2001 that Dodge (or any Mopar) had a body that was aero clean enough to be stable at NASCAR speeds.
