Found this in my saved archives...just wanting to confirm if the measurements are correct for a Challenger T/A spoiler on the trunk. Also, are the holes i've circled in Red for a go-wing spoiler?

thanks

The ones circled on red are for the T/A spoiler, it uses two screws per side installed from the bottom into clips inserted into cutouts on the spoiler... Same Diagram I have...

mark the screw holes at the ends, then look at the underside of the trunk lid to make sure you got them in the rights spot. There is a flatish area there big enough for the screw head.

Snoopy's drawing is correct but I wouldn't trust the 3 1/8 measurement thats been added to your drawing. The reason is that the rear edge of the trunk lid is slightly V shaped, so if you measure from that rear edge then your spoiler holes won't all be in a straight line like they need to be. (FYI my car is a clone, but the 2 center stud holes are 3 3/8 from the rear trunk edge, while the outboard stud holes are 3 1/4 from the rear trunk edge.)

Plot it all out on your trunk lid with tape, then compare to your spoiler before drilling. These measurement are for original spoilers. First place auto products makes a good spoiler, but other companies may differ.

hope that all makes sense, I'm short on time to type right now.

Ok, good info....

Whats the size of the drilled holes?

I was by my car earlier, but now I won't be near it to check till at least the weekend.

The spoiler should come with some special hardware. Trying to remember how it all works. The Stud brackets inside the spoiler are slightly adjustable. The stud position can be moved a little. There is a hollow sort of T shaped piece that threads over the stud. When it's tight on the stud then the stud won't move within the spoiler, if it's loose on the stud then you can position the stud a little within the spoiler. The outside diameter of this little hollow T shaped nut thing is how big the stud holes need to be because it pokes through the hole with the stud. I measured mine with a caliper, then found a matching sized drill bit in the tool box. You want a snug fit.
After getting the holes drilled in the trunk I slightly loosened those hollow T shaped nut things, put the spoiler on the car where I wanted it, then grabbed the T shaped things with some pliers from the underside of the trunk lid to snug them up and lock the studs stationary. This makes sure your stud location & holes match up perfectly. Then you can take the spoiler off and snug the T things up a little more if you'd like. When you're ready to put the spoiler on for the last time put a little butyl rubber or strip caulk on those T things as a sealer so that your trunk doesn't fill with water when it rains.

Ideally, when you're all done, with the trunk lid open, the screws at each end should sit flat against the inner trunk lid, and the END of each stud should be centered in it's trunk lid cutout so that you can put a ratchet on the stud to tighten the special nut that holds the spoiler to the trunk lid.

I didn't have a template to go off of when I did mine, so I had to come up with all my measurements using the spoiler and trunk lid. It was very tricky to measure how to get the END of the stud centered in the cutout on the inner trunk skin when the BASE of the stud was going through a hole in the outer trunk skin because inner and outer trunk skins aren't on parralel planes. (studs come through at an angle)

Your skills at such things are better than mine, I know that. So, if you want to take the info I added and make a better one.....

We've been talking about the T/A challengers here, but out of curiosity, do the dimensions on that drawing work for AAR 'cudas too?

Perhaps while we've got the pro modifying the drawing we could add a label that says what the drawing is for?
