I was by my car earlier, but now I won't be near it to check till at least the weekend.
The spoiler should come with some special hardware. Trying to remember how it all works. The Stud brackets inside the spoiler are slightly adjustable. The stud position can be moved a little. There is a hollow sort of T shaped piece that threads over the stud. When it's tight on the stud then the stud won't move within the spoiler, if it's loose on the stud then you can position the stud a little within the spoiler. The outside diameter of this little hollow T shaped nut thing is how big the stud holes need to be because it pokes through the hole with the stud. I measured mine with a caliper, then found a matching sized drill bit in the tool box. You want a snug fit. After getting the holes drilled in the trunk I slightly loosened those hollow T shaped nut things, put the spoiler on the car where I wanted it, then grabbed the T shaped things with some pliers from the underside of the trunk lid to snug them up and lock the studs stationary. This makes sure your stud location & holes match up perfectly. Then you can take the spoiler off and snug the T things up a little more if you'd like. When you're ready to put the spoiler on for the last time put a little butyl rubber or strip caulk on those T things as a sealer so that your trunk doesn't fill with water when it rains.
Ideally, when you're all done, with the trunk lid open, the screws at each end should sit flat against the inner trunk lid, and the END of each stud should be centered in it's trunk lid cutout so that you can put a ratchet on the stud to tighten the special nut that holds the spoiler to the trunk lid.
I didn't have a template to go off of when I did mine, so I had to come up with all my measurements using the spoiler and trunk lid. It was very tricky to measure how to get the END of the stud centered in the cutout on the inner trunk skin when the BASE of the stud was going through a hole in the outer trunk skin because inner and outer trunk skins aren't on parralel planes. (studs come through at an angle)
