The next few posts will include some photos of my steering column. I believe that it is a power column and elongated to reach the manual box. I can't be certain, is there a way to tell?

This photo has the pin still in the shaft at the end, it all slid out when I loosened the column under the dash. How can I remove this pin? Also, if I wiggle the shaft holding the pin, there seems to be some play in the column. I had previously assumed it was a worn coupler, but is it possible it's something else?

Here's a photo of the shaft where the 2 come together. Should I be able to see where the collapsible pins are?

That is a manual column shaft. You will not see `pins` at the visible end because the joint is inside about midway in the tube.See
picture.

Bottom shaft is manual.
Top shaft is power.
Note difference in length of welded end.

Thanks Jules,
I had spoke with you on the pn
hone before. Can you help with the pin removal and the play question?

The bottom shaft will require a press.
It is very tightly inserted.
Concerning the "play" you would have to open things up and see what the shaft looks like inside.
Maybe the lower bearing is worn badly.
More dismantling is required.
