I have an 87 Conquest that I just got running that is about to be kept outside so the wife can have her spot back ha. I need to get a good outdoor cover for it, any recommendations?

Also, it has been off the road about 2 years, I have had it since June. It looks like when it broke down that it had been driven in the rain and never washed. When I got it over to the house a few months ago my son and I gave it a good hand wash, and it still has the dirt patterns of being driven in the rain? Its shiny but you can still see where the splashes were and the dirty mist etc. What would be a good method to getting that off? It looks great from the right angle, and from the wrong angle you can see the mess.

Try a mild polishing compound by hand in a spot and see if it improves it.

We ditched the old 5 layer car cover from Cali Car Covers. It was the same material everyone sewed them up with.
They over time turn to powder and then let rain and dust dirt in.
Bought Cover King Auto Body Amour cover. They are made to order. Fits well keeps rain and dust dirt out and was thicker than the other materials. None are really thick anymore. As we have a magnolia tree that stops pine cone things and lots if leaves next store to us right at the property line.
As far as fixing paint. Polishing compound followed by Malco Flash Wax. It is liquid Carnuba easy on easy off.
I rather the yellow but you have to get it from a Malco distribution place.
The Cherry can be had for a good price from Amazon.
The Malco Show Room Shine is great for water spots. Small spots needing cleaned in between washes, you will wonder how you did without it.
Can be used after wash as well a waterless wash if just light dust, spot, glass etc.

With a dark color use a good car wash so you float more off.

Mr. Pink and Mr. Gold Chemical Guys car wash seems to float the dirt and dust better than most and can be had just about anyplace Even Wal-Mart.
Works well by hand but really works great in my cannon.

Thanks for the recommendations. I will check some compounds out. It is on a good majority of the car minus the hood and front end and roof. The rear bumper needs repainted, maybe if this thing turns out to be a decent car I will have the body shop do it when I get the bumper painted.

Better get a good look at what the body shop's turning out first, if you don't want to tackle it yourself.
I'd prefer a dedicated detail shop for that, and not necessarily one that cranks out quickies for used car lots.
Black cuts no slack !

Since 2005, I've owned nothing but black vehicles. I've used the same system on them all, and people have always asked if said vehicle was brand new(none were). Adams line of polishes and wax are very easy to use and maintain a super glossy near flawless finish. Even when dirty, still looks very nice! My suggestion is spend 20 bux and buy griots synthetic clay or mothers synthetic clay pad since they are easily found at local auto parts places. Adam's has a mitt that works well too. The synthetic clay is a quick easy way to really clean up the paint before the polish steps begin. You won't be disappointed.

I agree with Jim; a good clay bar treatment first.

California Covers used to be the most recommended. I had their best one (can't remember the model but it was over $500) and while it was pretty good the Sun ate it up in five years. I'd try the other brand recommended.
