Cab, I have one of the old 440 Source Hemi cranks still in the box. Would your comments apply to that also? Thanks.

Are you suggesting 440 source/ Ohio crank don't use 4340? Call them and ask them ![twocents twocents](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/twocents.gif) I've use both with types no problems ![up up](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/thumbs_up.gif) I think the 4340 is suppose to be able to take more stress before failing, maybe not ![confused confused](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/confused.gif)

Ohio crank looks to not use 4340 until you go I beam. Kits generally show h beams and those might be 5140 as they don’t say on their site.
I want my fair share

Look at that post again, I list Molnar ABOVE both 440 Source and Ohio Crankshafts due to him using 4340 crank material instead of 5140 material in his cranks and rods I have over 11k hard mikes on my 440 source 512 stroker kit from 440 source page Crank First we start with super strong aircraft quality 4340 steel, certified to meet or exceed SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standards. We constantly pull samples and run tests on the chemical composition of our 4340 raw steel to make sure it meets every index included in the specifications. Our Platinum series rods (listed below) are the highest quality rods we offer. We encourage you to shop around and do your research, because we know that no one else offers such a high quality product at an incredibly affordable price. Compare these manufacturing processes, specs and tolerances with the competition: All our Platinum Series rods start with super strong aircraft quality 4340 steel, certified to meet or exceed SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) standards. We constantly pull samples and run tests on the chemical composition of our 4340 raw steel to make sure it meets every index included in the specifications.

I would be shocked ![eek eek](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/custom/eek.gif) if their 500$ h-beam is 5140. I don't think I've ever seen a 5140 h-beam style rod anywhere.
