Congrats Zippy, and all others who have quit!!

I smoked and chewed Skoal for many years (at the same time). I quit smoking first, that was pretty easy because I was still using the Skoal. Quitting the chew was much harder!!! I really liked the taste (no so much with cigarettes). It's been about 20 years for me.

I agree on a few fronts. Congratulations for everyone who has quit smoking! Your lungs and everyone around you thanks you! For me chewing was the hardest to stop as it didn't make everything stink like smoke. Years ago it cost half the cost of cigarettes. Now not so much. Enjoy life and truly enjoy longevity up

15 years for me this past February.
Never had a serious sick day in my adult life. One serious respiratory infection made me see the light. Seeing what they go for around here now ($70-80/carton), I'm not sure that I would be able to afford them anymore anyway!

That's the thing. Nicotine addiction is a b!t$H and quitting is difficult. The key is to never stop trying.
I quit in '96 when I was 32 years old. At that time I had been smoking for half of my life. I also tried/failed many times before I finally stuck to it. I'm sure that's a similar story to that of most "quitters."
Congrats to all!

I also had quit a few times, both the beer and smoking. The longest was about 3-4 years on the smoking.
I learned every time that I cannot have ONE of either as it will lead back to both, and within 3-6 months right back to where I had been.
So after my 8 week VACATION at a few local facilities, I knew that I just can't go there spank
I am fortunate to have survived my experience and recovered. wink

236 days for me. More than twice as long as ever before. Keeping a daily count sheet this time which I think helps. Every morning I put another tick on the page and get a little satisfaction out of that.

Stopped drinking a little over a year ago and the smoking has been far and away a harder vice to kick. Still want a cig every few days but rarely want a drink just for the drink's sake. Mostly miss the socializing at the bars when I think of the booze.

I have put on about 20 pounds though. Primarily chocolate. I got a serious jones for chocolate.

Congrats to everyone. up
