Has anyone found a good alternative to the harbor freight nitrile gloves? These things used to be $7.99 or $9.99/box at full price, but since COVID, they've become $17.99-$19.99/box. I refuse to pay it, I feel like they are price gouging. I don't need anything crazy, I just use these for things around the house such as painting, or doing oil changes, etc.

I like the orange ones as they stand up better to cuts and tears than the other nitrile gloves.

I'm fortunate enough that my company provides nitrile gloves for us to use (we purchase them with a company c.c.), and yes, those suckers flew way up in price. Right when people were starting to whisper about covid, I drove around to a few places to buy/check inventory of a few things including protective gloves. Advance autoparts carried an EXCELLENT and very durable glove. I'm pretty sure they were Mechanix brand nitrile gloves. Same price, better glove-when in stock. Good luck.

I went about a month ago with my SIL to HF and thought I would grab a box or 2 as I'm getting low. Talk about sticker shock! Didn't matter which one you wanted, they were all $19.99 per box. I refused to pay that. If I run out before the price drops back down, I'll do without.

I stopped in Autozone for something or other yesterdar, CRS is kicking in, lol. Anyway, as I was waiting in line to check out I saw they were selling gallon jugs of hand sanitzer, the alcohol based stuff. IT was buy one for $9.99, get one free", regularly priced $39.99/ea.

VP Racing fuels was the brand.

Good Luck with that. Most of them are made in China and they’re still expensive from any retailer. I’ve had a few cheap ones over the last year and they practically fall apart in minutes. An average box of gloves is about $20.00.

I generally use the Costco gloves but they have gone up 50% in price as well.

i'm not a fan of those gloves, as i have seen them get caught in a drill press and wind up like a rubber band before breaking free.
luckily, the guy wearing them was not hurt, but you should have seen his eyes bug out !
that may have been a freak thing, but i have never been afraid of getting my hands dirty. that's probably why they are cracked, arthritic, and hurt all the time.

I usually buythem by the case from one of our suppliers. A case lasts me a few years. I wanted to order a case on our last order. The salesman said would you like to try vinyl gloves instead of the nitrile?
Me: Why?
Him: Price. Since the "pandemic", doctors use nitrile gloves and that has driven the price up incredibly. What was once a case for like $49 they are now $159. It was crazy. So I ordered vinyl gloves. They seem to work nicely.

My last job supplied us with the vinyl gloves, and even though they don't do a great job with oil, they are good for about everything else. I preferred them over the nitrile, but hydraulic oil seeps right through them. And your hands don't sweat waterfalls wearing the vinyl gloves either.

I like the black ones at the counter at O'Reillys. Not sure on the cost since covid, but I'll find out soon as I'm almost out of them.

I have a relative that works at a state office that deals with handicapped people. That state office has cases of the nitrate gloves they are trying to get rid of!

When covid hit, the state bought up a ton of this stuff, but now that the emergency has passed, they are still getting tons of this stuff. The office that person works in is running out of storage space, but every month more comes in. I believe its a typical State response. If you know anyone that works in a state office.....

A significant part of the price increase is due to..
A. Import cost sanctions
B. Weakening of US $ to the Chinese RMB
C. Cancelation of the TPP (Trans Pacific trade agreement), would have deleted the 9% import duties

The end result was the final product cost to Harbor Freight, landed in USA port shipped from China was increased by 37%. So now after considering the profit markup % by Harbor Freight, the final retail cost was increased significantly..

I got some gloves a while back when they were hard to find and I made the mistake of buying the ones with the powder inside. What a mess they make.
