I had a great time. Seeing old pals, meeting new people, talking history, scoring parts I needed, etc.

Agreed! Didnt make a 3 day, 12 hour a day weekend of it this year, but it was PACKED. Few things I noticed right off the bat- not as many cars for sale in the corral this year. Way, WAY more dudes on ez go type carts, and the number of non white attendants definitely jumped. The last I have no issues with at all, and that populace brought some awesome rides that I appreciated for sure, so in my book an awesome addition for sure and its about time. Jagoffs on golf carts still only yielding half the time to pedestrians which I despise. Saturday was the most beautiful day of the show and in my opinion since I've started going in 94, the best weather/temps ever. Caught up with lots of old friends also.

Are the East Coast guys fatter and more out of shape than we are out her on the West Coast? I hardly ever see people in carts at shows out here. Our shows are not as big but that can't be the only reason.

I took the Challenger and, luckily, didn't end up at the very top of the hill this year (V6 Challenger 2015-up class). Took over 300 photos from Friday afternoon through Sunday after lunch.
A couple of cars for sale called to me ('84 Daytona Turbo Z at $6500 and, believe it or not, '83 Dodge 400 4-door for $2k because when was the last time you saw one?), but I resisted.
The one I really wanted was the dark blue '67 R/T ragtop on the showfield Saturday, ticking all the boxes with a 4-speed, factory AM/FM radio and a white interior so you don't fry on a hot day with the top down.
Also dug the Hellcat-powered '69 Coronet 500 wagon and the '69 Daytona in the Survivor tent (caught that one outside on Sunday and got much better pics than were possible in the tent!).
Had a nice chat with the owner of the purple '71 GTX in the Old Skool Paint display, which I photographed back in 1993 when it was parked across the street from Gate 3 during Fall Carlisle with "For sale, $20,000" on the windshield. He owned it then and later changed his mind about selling it.
Also talked to the owners of the ex-drag-car Superbird, which I'd previously shot when it was out on the showfield a few years ago. "Did you see the mural on the decklid?" No, I did not. Well, I have now. Nice people.

Yeah, never understood that either. As most of us age we are going to tend not to look like we did in our 20s or 30s, so I guess the mentality is "if your not looking at my body anymore, you're going to look at my body art, which in turn makes me believe your checking me out". Uh, no we are not.

Stopped at Service Center off the PA Turnpike (last one near Ohio state line) and ran into a couple of PA residents that were addressing a low oil pressure issue in a '66 Barracuda.

Hope everyone that attended this year's event had a great time. It was great to see some friends/Mopar family members.

Based on what I heard from the Carlisle Event Staff outside Gate 1, the vendor swap spots were sold out this year. However, I noticed several spots were vacant. One in particular was in premier row-O not far to the west of the gate where the homeowner sells burgers.

I also thought the number of cars for sale in the corral was much smaller than in years past. Especially outside the covered area.


As always, it was great to see many Mopars on display.

Ha! Age is on my side currently but I never saw more hoverround electric scooters in my life.

I thought it was a good show and the new Carlisle app made it easy to find specific vendors. Got a few odds and ends and ordered some items to avoid oversized shipping.

They are called "skin illustrations" (movie The Illustrated Man). Saw a guy at the post office yesterday who had a large tattoo on his calf of the guy's face (red stapler guy with glasses) from the movie Office Space. I'm serious. WHAT - THE - HEL would make you want to tattoo something like that anywhere on you?????????? It must just be me - I dumb get it.

I think it’s going to get worse before better - And trust me , there is plenty of overweight Midwest boys and girls riding those battery powered toys

It was a good show. I got stuck in the worst swap spot on the grounds, and their solution for it was charging me more money. Made $20 on Thursday, but did really well on Friday. Saturday made about 1/3 of Friday's haul. Foot traffic was down on Saturday, which surprised me. I didn't get to walk the grounds as much as I like, but did have to trek up the hill a couple times to deliver some parts I brought for people.
The most annoying thing to me was oblivious folks everywhere. Thursday people having no situational awareness. Standing in the middle of the aisles talking while people are trying to get through to get set up. Not paying any attention at all. The folks in the hotel parking lots were the worst. Wandering around with their beer coozy filled and in hand, apparently not aware that despite their desire to walk around, people actually needed to use that as a driveway. Weird.
I picked up a few small things for my newest project.
Despite the negatives, it was a great time as usual. I am not sure if I will vend next year or just bring a car and enjoy it. As always, the positives outweigh the negatives. Time to get ready for the Nats.

I need to read the schedule better for next year. I assumed it was a move in day only.

Had a blast at Carlisle as always. Lots of cars. My truck class was fuller than it has ever been with some nice just finished trucks.Tons of parts in the swap meet area. I will agree again this year the car corral was a little light. There were some nice cars in the corral, that clone Hemi Challenger with the sunroof and gator grain vinyll top was gorgeous. The Herb Mccandles videos were cool, watched about an hour of it. Great to meet up with old friends, make some new ones and score some needed parts along the way.

I spoke to people who setup in the swap meet area and were saying it was the best year they've had. Friday was down a bit in the midway area, but Saturday was filled. This was the largest setup I had ever done at Carlisle. It was mentally exhausting, but worth it in the end. Carlisle asked me to help out when Dodge waited till the last minute to pull out. A lot of scrambling and we got the documentary done just in time. Successfully played it for the first time on Thursday in the midway. Seemed to play without a hitch the rest of the weekend. Thanks to everyone that stopped by. I didn't have the time to walk around as much as usual as I had to move the documentary to each chapter upon its completion. Saturday was beautiful, but I wouldn't mind if they turned the humidity down a little bit next year haha.

I have been going every year ( except last ) for awhile now every time I make it a point to race at nearby South Mountain Dragways Friday evening Mopar race I dont understand how there's 3,000 cars at Carlisle and only 20 or so show up to support the Mopar race including hardly any spectators. It was disappointing that it rained out during time trials thus canceling the race luckily I found a wash it yourself place to clean my truck afterwards as my truck rarely sees rain. The show was good and it was great see a big turn out of trucks, I had a lot of people looking at my truck which was gratifying I made the bonehead move of not getting my goody bag until right before I left on Saturday so I didn't have my windshield paper with my number on it so people could vote for my truck. The swap meet was the same as always I didn't really need or want anything but I did deliver a fiberglass bumper I sold and did buy my annual case of Brad Penn 10- 30 for the race car there and got a K&N filter for my new truck courtesy of A&A Autos display I tried finding one before and wasn't successful they had one in stock at the show so I bought it. ( it fits I installed it in the hotel parking lot ) . IMO there were too many " political statements " for my taste its a car event not a campaign rally. But I understand freedom of speech so to each his own.

I was finally able to watch the complete documentary on Yuu Tube. It was great. I learned so much about your dad;s career. There aren't too many people in the world that have exactly the right thiug fall in place at exactly the right time. I'm going to have to make a trip down to your museum.

I was one of the few spectators at South Mountain.Yea, I was disappointed in the turn out also. I honestly don`t understand it. My thought was the threat of rain kept some away.

Unfortunetly fat people are becoming the normal. Some people, like me, realize I need to lose some pounds. I am trying and I feel good when I do. I would never ride a scooter because I know my ass needs to walk. The day I choose to ride a scooter is the day I decided to give up on life.
That's the day I wear crocs and a non button up shirt

I used to understand that you have to have proof of the need for a scooter or whatever. Did that change?

Didn't go this year. Just like some, life got really busy and just didn't get to it.

Myself and a few others laughed our butts off when a guy riding one of those carts (I think it was a 3 wheeled one) dumped it in front of my swap spot. I don't think he was even moving. It just kind of went over in slow motion.

It was awesome. Wife and I were there Thursday AM until Saturday night. Car corral was smaller than usual. Show field was a mob scene for a good part of Saturday.
Joe Zopler from Garage Squad stopped by my car and signed the trunk lid and took a few pics with me and the wife.
Already have hotel reservations for next year.

I didnt see or hear them ask for "proof of disability " or whatever, outside of gate 3 where there was a different kind of "corral". If you need it, you need it. It was sad to see and put some things into perspective for me. But my God, they were like a disabled Hellz angels rally there were so many

Great show!!! It was packed with people, cars, and parts! Even the weather wasn't bad. Couple of hard downpours but they didn't last long. The clouds and mixed air temp made it more comfortable than many other years.
Only negative is when our 70 Challenger broke down on the 581 in ramp right before the big storm Friday evening! Vapor lock! Had it towed to the hotel.
Fixed the issue and it drove fine the rest of the weekend!

Has a good show but broke down again on the way home, had to rent a U-Haul van to get my parts home. Truck and trailer with car in it is still in Bedford, PA and will be until at least next week as the Dodge dealer said he won't even look at it until Friday. But I will borrow a friends Duramax truck and head out there again on Wednesday as I have another car still at Carlisle! Had a bait and switch at the hotel I stayed at too, cost over $700 for 3 days! But had a great time as always, brought a newbie to the show and he is overwhelmed to say the least! Great catching up with all the Moparites too, my 29th year at Carlisle!... I had a better swap in 2020, people seemed to spend more money last year as they were freaking out if anything would ever happen again. Friday is always THE day to sell, people tend to get there early and buy parts, then check out the car show on Saturday, that's how it has always been. The show actually starts on Wednesday and ends on Saturday if you know what I mean...

He had no material to make his dash pads, all of it comes from China now as it is not made in the US. He had over 100 orders waiting...

Got a few decent deals on a few NOS parts on Wednesday.

Was a bit disappointed my car didnt even place in my class. I got a 2nd last year, made some noticeable improvements over winter and did worse. The #1 and #2 cars in my class were not that nice, but thats how it goes with that type of 'voting'.

Honestly I haven`t filled out a ballot for years. I gave up on that years ago as too much of "buddy " voting going on.

We had a great time again this year. Even though I didn't need any parts, it was good to see old friends and meet new ones in the swap meet area. We talked with quite a few people about their cars in the show field, and it's always interesting to hear the stories and history. Kudos to Ed and his crew for putting on a fantastic show, and we look forward to next year !

I think they used to call it a "fun field", not sure if that still holds. You can never get upset about participant judging or expect to win. Go to a real point scale judged show if you want that. Honestly the old Mopars at Englishtown show in the early 90s was probably the best judged shows I ever went to. I learned a lot from the guys that used to judge the A-body class. After the show they would go over each and every item with me on the scoring sheet and explain why I got the points I did and what I could do better. That's when I enjoyed showing and competing. Now I rather just hang out and walk around. Too many "experts" that annoy you.

The rain on Thursday was a bummer for sure and the humidity was ridiculous even for central PA in mid July. Had a great time as always though hanging with friends, combing the swap meet and walking the show. One of the highlights of my weekend was when Herb McCandless was casually talking to a bunch of us standing around the Demon for about 20 minutes, that was awesome!

I used to go to South Mountain every year and it was always well attended, bummer to hear no one came down. For me personally it's kinda hard to go down there when you have a vendor spot. Rain must have kept a lot of guys away.

I did OK vending, moved a bunch of stuff that I never dreamed would go. Went home with more money than I brought so that was good! Pricing things to sell seems to work for getting rid of worn out, take-off junk that's been collecting dust for 20 years or new parts that I never used. Didn't care what I sold things for was just glad to get rid of it. I even sold old broken tools and equipment.

Usual swap meet shenanigans still went on though. One slickster bought a single inside B body bucket seat bracket from me on Friday for $35, may have even haggled me down on it. I walked by his spot on Saturday and he literally put a 1 in front of the 35, same tag. Gonna hold on to that for a while Weasel.

So, do you think next year will be even bigger once all the Canadians are allowed to come back down? Or did people have "cabin fever" to get back out there this year and may skip next? I also had to cancel this year at the last minute as my father was having some health issues. I can't wait to get back down next year as I'm bummed I missed out on the biggest turnout yet.

Enjoyed the meet. Got a few goodies for my 1968 Charger. 1968 hemi trans and sweet left 68 Charger fender from Bob Horman (RAH). Thanks Bob for the great prices and conversation. Also picked up mint right reat frame rail. Sent chrome dome air cleaner lid for rechrome. Sold some nice deck lids and such.

Sure wish I new who ran over a few of my parts at my swap spot, turn signals and tail lights for 70 Cuda were destroyed, and the dog leg on a nice 69 Dart fender was crushed. Karma and Dharma or gonna be a real beatch to that S O B...

i couldn't make it this year due to health issues and doctor visits.
i have MS as well as knee and hip issues, so a scooter of some kind is a necessity for me.
one thing i have noticed over the years, if you must use a scooter, you better be aware of your surroundings at all times.
i don't zoom around at 100mph, and try to stay out of everyone's way.
even being super cautious didn't prevent me from being run into by a vehicle owned by Hemmings a couple years ago in the swap meet.
luckily, my scooter and myself didn't suffer any damage, but the scooter put a pretty big hack in the Hemmings car's bumper cover.
quite a few bystanders saw this happen and gave the driver a real chewing out, as well as making sure i was ok. i'm glad the incident was a low speed one.
it's not as much fun as some think when one is forced to ride instead of walk.

Had a guy on a scooter one year make a left turn and crash into my swap tables from a dead stop.
People need to learn how to drive these things if they use them.

Just going to say this, and its not a knock on anyone. Wednesday and Thursday at carlisle is and always has been the vendors "playtime". Thats when things were bought and turned around and sold at profit over the next couple days. When someone buys what your selling at what you want, let it go. Don't think about the what if. Maybe its his turn to protect the seat track for the future generations. Now he gets to drag it to swap meets for possibly years, before he sells it at a gave away price, or he might find the one guy that has been looking for that seat track for years and is thrilled to find on at any price.

I've been on both ends of that deal before. I'm at the garage cleaning stage right now. What I may have paid for something is water under the bridge, now it either sells, or goes on the scrap truck the next week. Once they hand me their money, I really don't care what they do with the part.

It’s called humidity.
Guy in our club came out from California.
He was saying it was nothing like California heat.

When I was out in cali, I noticed when it got "hot" it was eerily very tolerable. There was little to no humidity, it was a dry heat. Humidity in PA for some reason is the absolute worse. You would think that escaping direct sun exposure would buy you relief- no, it does not. The humidity is unstoppable, it can't be reasoned with.

I was not at Carlisle but I will add that when I packed a trailer with my parts and stuff from friends a couple of times I was amazed that people got on the trailer to dig through before we even parked in the swap. Didn't know that was a thing. I would always see my old parts later in the day at someone elses spot priced more than what I sold it for. At first I was pissed. But then I thought I brought it to sell and it did. The only thing I would have wished is that I found a buyer that got a good deal and actually needed it and would personally use it.

I was there and I had a great time as usual. I picked up a couple of parts for my car, met Joe Zolper and Dave Rhea. I have no complaints. I already have a room reserved for next year.

I go with my friend who rents a scooter. While he is a little overweight (so am I) I wouldn’t call him fat and he certainly isn’t lazy. Unfortunately, he has really bad knees and he just can’t do all the walking required. Especially given the fact that the weekend of Carlisle is usually the hottest weekend with highest amount humidity of the year in the northeast. He has yet to have an accident or run over anyone’s parts.

I never knew the swap meet was open on Thursday. Usually I get there by noon on Thursday so starting next year I am going to get my shopping done on Thursday and Friday so I can see the rest of the show on Saturday. I wonder if the attendance record will be broken again next year if people from Canada are allowed in? They could break 3,000. I am already registered for the show next year as well.

I agree this years weather was the best I can remember.
