I feel your pain... two words: Fissurectomy and Sphincterotomy. Yes, it's as bad as it sounds sawzall
It took seven weeks to heal, not surprisingly since I had to poop every day - plus the stool recontaminated the wound each time. Worth it in the end (pun intended) whistling

Infection is still quite rare for anal injuries and surgeries - that area is surprisingly resistant. But if it does happen, as you noted it hurts. A lot.
Glad you got better.

OP, the only good thing about this injury is the stories you will be able to gross out everyone with for years to come laugh

Need to be real careful with fecal matter and open wounds , my mother is still dealing with the after effects of fecal matter getting into a healing incision sight on her back after the nursing home attendant did a pisspoor job cleaning her after an accident .

Glad you're okay Kevin , I'm nursing a bad fall that has me out of work till mid July .

running up my post count some more .

I would've gone full-blown injured five-year-old on them. "It hurts! Right HERE! See?!" grin

Here's to a swift recovery and a scar that hopefully nobody asks to see in the future.

Sorry about your suffering.
Normal response is "Pics or it didn't happen."

Sorry you got hurt. Take workman's comp off and maybe by the time you get back from recovery, the owner will be smart enough not to have such a hazardous work place environment and make for some better working conditions.
