I need to add a pint of trans fluid to my 727

Just checking is there a procedure to topping it up ?

Cold or hot ?

Engine running / not running ?

In park or neutral ?

Many thanks

Im sure someone like John will chime in but I always check it warmed up in neutral. If it wasn't driven I run the shifter thru the gears quickly and end in neutral. Fill it in park to the OK area and go back to neutral again to check it. Engine running.

I always check hot, idling in neutral so the converter is full and on level ground.

warm, idling in neutral, as has been stated. i always run through the gears stopped, foot on brakes. not fast, but not super slow either, then check in neutral.

iagree up
I run my cars, street and race cars, with the hot fluid level between the full and add mark, about halfway twocents I do run deep tranny pans also so keep that in mind, if I can see fluid on the dipstick on the race cars below the add mark cold I'm good thumbs That usually works out so it will be halfway between the add and full marks hot boogie grin

Over the years my experience has been when checking cold and in neutral if the level indicates to add a pint, it will normally indicate full when hot in neutral twocents beer
