my 426 day turned out strange about 6pm.
my wife and i were sitting on our deck enjoying the day before supper, and the town fire siren went off. most times when that happens, we see multiple rescue vehicles race past the house on the main street that is visible from the house, a block or so away. this time, all we see are two of our police cars, in no particular hurry, [but with lights on] head up the road to the local park. then, a steady stream of civilian vehicles turning into the park road as well.
i then get a call from my municipal contact telling me to observe the creek below the house. HUH ??????
it seems a BEER truck crashed on the east bound interstate bridge going over the park, [roughly 1/4mi. upstream from my house] and the trailer was hanging over the bridge dumping beer cans into the creek !
sure enough, i wobble down to the creek and there are beer cans galore !
my cousin, who is head of the local EMS, said the bridge smelled like a brewery when he arrived on scene !
i drove up the street my house is located on, to where you can see the interstate bridge, and got a couple of pics with my crappy camera. the last pic is the beer cans in the creek below my house. the pics didn't turn out very good because i was shooting into the sun, but at least you can get the idea.
no word on the truck driver, but it was wall to wall truck traffic diverted through town from the interstate until after 10pm last night. my local force also had a devil of a time keeping the locals out of the creek in their quest for "FREE BEER".
