Saw this on a PRI news release today :
"When NASCAR’s "Next Gen" Cup Series car debuts in 2022, it will feature technology that has been proven in the WeatherTech Championship and other forms of sports car racing around the world, including independent rear suspension, a transaxle-style gearbox with sequential shift, and low-profile tires with single-lug wheels.
The 2022 Cup car is also slated to receive larger brakes and a revised aerodynamic philosophy that utilizes a top-venting hood and a rear diffuser."
I'd also to see only a single wheel impact wrench allowed over the wall, if they go single lug style wheels, I don't see a need for blink of the eye wheel changes, if they keep gravity dump fuel cans.
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

"Cars Of Tomorrow" where going to bee ready for last weeks Daytona 500
And it would of happened if
Covid 19 did not delay everything this summer so
Nothing really new , just gives them another year to refine everything
And its supposed to HELP the smaller teams financially

They are talking about fuel hose rigs like F1 instead of dump cans as well as single lug wheels. That should make for some awesome quick pit stops. So why do does the racing really need 7? sec pit stops thru F! fueling and single nut wheels , and then run numerous caution flags for track "debris", while commercials run?

When Dodge got back into Nascar years ago the stands were packed full, you had to get tickets to some tracks a year in advance. Then, Nascar started restricting the Dodge teams AGAIN, just like in the 60's & 70's, Dodge got fed up with it AGAIN and stopped sponsoring teams. When you alienate millions of fans those millions of fans are not going to go to Nascar races. Now Nascar is wondering where the fans went? I, and a lot of my friends haven't attended a Nascar race since Dodge left, there's your answer Nascar.

Not really
Dodge was twiddling there thumbs
Ford offered Team Penske an offer they couldn’t refuse - And that engine shop was the major key
Sources familiar with the negotiations suggest that had Dodge moved more decisively to re-sign Penske, an agreement could have been reached. But with parent-company Fiat looking over Dodge’s shoulder—the Italians seemingly unable or unwilling to grasp the gravity of NASCAR in this country—that opportunity came and went before a decision could be made.
So Dodge began, leisurely at first, looking for a team to spend its money on. It needed a top-level team, preferably one with plenty of research and development experience, as well as its own engine shop—a like-for-like replacement for Penske, essentially. No such luck. Teams that met Dodge’s criteria were tied up by Toyota, Ford, and Chevrolet. The few teams that still have engine shops, such as Hendrick Motorsports and Roush Fenway Racing, earn back much of their investment by supplying engines for other teams. But if no other teams are running Dodges, that revenue stream disappears.
Stands not full - When they went to those 2007 Wing Cars of Tomorrow and the cars really really looked identical
Dale SR passing away Dale JR retiring
Alot of the big names are now retired
And of course all the rule changes

Morphing further and further from being "stock cars". This is why NASCAR is losing its fan base. I agree 2022 Cars of Tomorrow are supposed to change that But honestly with all the safety features today how realistic can they bee

It's about time they modernize the formula. Anyone who thinks the current car's 9-inch rear end, steel rims, and 4-speeds is "stock" - is sadly out of touch Is single lug wheels...or literally any single facet of that sport "stock"? I could care less what they do... nothing about the sport is appealing to me and they aren't getting more appealing with these changes. They should be limited to production bodies and production blocks... anything beyond that means rooting for a manufacturer is a total farce. Glad some people enjoy it but not my cup of tea.

Also taller sidewalls allow flex which helps keep the contact patch on the ground longer under side loads? Tell that to every other form of auto racing !!!

I, and a lot of my friends haven't attended a Nascar race since Dodge left, there's your answer Nascar. I followed NASCAR from 2001 thru 2012. I got into it when Dodge came back, wanted to support their effort and see some Mopars win races. Didn't enjoy it at first, but was determined to watch until Dodge won a Cup race. Then, Sterling Marlin won the the first Cup race for Dodge, and then I kept watching. Teams expanded, we added Penske, Rocketman Ryan Newman cleaned up with Matt Borland and the #12 Alltel Dodge team. Kasey Kahne came in and looked to have tons of potential. After winning Daytona with Newman, teams seemed to start to pull away. I remember losing Petty (merged with Evernham), lost smaller teams that ran Dodge (Robbie Gordon, Stacy Compton, etc), lost Ganassi when they merged with DEI, and eventually lost Evernham/Petty to Ford. Penske hang on as the lone Dodge team til Brad K won the Cup in 2012, and they switched to Ford immediately after that (admittedly, they had annoucned it months before that). And, that was it. Last NASCAR race I watched was the 2012 Cup Finale with Brad K crowed Champion, and not as much hooplah as there should have been for Dodge winning the Cup after all those years (downplayed as Dodge would not return for 2013).
