I am trying to remove the dash from my 68 charger. I have popped the winshield out and unbolted the dash. I cannot get the dash out because there are two bolts that look like they are connected to the cowl, near the steering wheel, that are sticking threw holes on the dash. It looks like the steering column needs to be removed so that the dash will drop down. Is there another way to take the dash out or do I have to drop the steering column?

I removed those. The dashboard is totally loose and the passenger side is pretty much resting on the floor pan. I am just trying to figure out how to get the dash away from the two bolts that are near are on either side of the steering column. I took the nut off from the bottom but the bolt does not pop out.

Can I post my questions in two different forums to get my questions noticed and answered faster too?

I think we ALL should start doing that now.

Yes, you will have to disconnect/isolate the steering column to get the dash out. Just drive the roll pin out that connects the steering wheel coupler to the steering gear box and CAREFULLY pry it off the gear box from the bottom part of the coupler. The coupler will come apart if you just start yanking and pulling. Once that's done, remove the 4 steering wheel collar bolts on the inside firewall. The complete steering column should slide out. Don't forget to electrically disconnect the steering column as well. It'll make removing the dash frame much easier.

if you are talking about the bolts i'm thinking of then on the right side there will be 2 nuts. one grounds the horn and the other holds the column to the dash.
