Hello, Just wondering if anyone has used this setup? I knew a guy that built his 340 this way and it was pretty nasty, but I don't know what piston he used. If anyone has used this combo with a 340 bored .40 over, let me know. I'm just looking for some feedback and possible part numbers for pistons. Thanks.

A 340+.040 will need a custom piston since it's a +.080 360 at that point, for the amount of trouble to swap to a 3.58 I would use a 4" crank instead and use a shelf piston.
I ran one about 15 years ago but it was .020 and I used a 360+ .060 piston, the 340 had spun a main bearing so I used the caps and crank from a 360 and had it line bored, the block would have been junk with a 340 sized main because it was damaged pretty bad.

340 and 360 pistosn have the same deck height.
you need a 360 piston that is 4.080 bore.
Kb 741, 742, 743 are forged pistons that are available.

No they don't, a 360 piston is quite a bit shorter than a 340 piston. The only way they could be the same is if 360's had a taller deck block or used a shorter rod.
For example a KB243 340 piston has compression height of 1.840" and a KB107 360 piston has a compression height of 1.675".

360, 340, 318, 273, all share the same deck heights.
340 and 360 can used each others intakes
273 318 340 all share the same crank "3.31"and rod size"6.125" different piston sizes b/c pof the bores.
360 has a 3.58 stoke crank and the 6.125 rod with a smaller piston 4.00 bore.
AS cheap way to stroke a 340 would be to take the 360 crank cut down the mains to 340 size. and used 360 piston.
However like stated before the 4" crank kit are pretty cheap and with give you more cubes.

excuse me..
i meant to say 340/360 blocks have the same deck height..
therefore you can use the 360 pistons/crank in 340.
yes...the compression height on the pistons are different...
