Terry your correct, if you notice in the pics the assembly line cable has a small tail coming off the firewall attachment plug towards the gas pedal, and the metal end (barrel and ferrule) are a smaller diameter than the NOS ones, and no tail on the nos ones either.I recently went through this observation while finishing up my car.

And for the other C.D.F.s out there, can you name this little part??
....there is nothing like driving my 1968 Hemi Dart around town and having people looking at you like you're nuts!!

Special little pc of bent metal that prevents the throttle cable ears from folding in and pulling the cable through the firewall. What do I win, Johnny?? MB

Mike, You win nothing. With 3 NOS samples on hand, I am in control of the Universe on this item. Plans are being drawn up for these to be repoped, and I will do my best to keep the tooling costs of this complex item under 50K. Bill Rolik

Keep in mind that the coloring on the cable end should be the least of concern (for some) in the overall scheme of things. Nit picking the smallest of details, while stumbling right past the larger objectives, is comical at best!
