Hello Everyone,
I need your opinions on pistons. I am planning the rebuild of a 1971 440. The rebuild will be fairly stock with a hyd flat tappet cam with lift in the .460-.470 range, stock heads, headers, aluminum dual plane intake, etc. You get the pictures. Anyway, I need to bore it .030 and replace the pistons. I would like to have somewhere around 10-to-1 comp. when done. What pistons would you reccommend? Cast, Hyper, forged? also, how about a part number and where to get them. This is a street car and budget is a big consideration.

Thanks,

Mike

Kieth Black hypereutectics. I dont have a site for them as I just got a different computer & I lost all my addresses. I would suggest that you do the fair amount of extra work to equalize the slope/depths of the open chambers & mill the piston quench domes accordingly all to get proper .035"-.040" quench(piston to head clearance)(later you'll be glad you did ) I'm thinking your cc's are ~ 90 and kb's site has a very user friendly CR calculator which will help you pick the right pistons.
