When I was 10 years old in 1968 my dad was stationed at a SAC Airforce Base in Montana. I remember watching 30 plus B-52 Bombers take off at one time minutes apart during base alerts. It is a site I will never forget.
They used to fly right over my house, way back then. On a clear summer day, we would see them on the southern horizon about 200 miles away. We'd grab our binoculars and lie on the grass looking up to watch them fly over on their way to Alert duty over the Arctic. Cool stuff. I grew up about 90 miles northeast of Calgary.
