When I was a teenager in the yard of a house in a small town near me sat an early 70's Vette with the front end pancaked. There was a 4' X 8' sign that read State Farm pays? The car sat there for several years and as far as I know the owner never did settle with them.

All of my dealings with them have been horrible. In one case their insured totaled our 64 El Camino, they offered 1500, After a lot of arm twisting they came up to 5500 and I kept the car.
On the shop side, they always whine about the estimates. One person had a 70 Challenger that had been insured by them for over 25 years with ZERO claims. It had an electrical fire that required dash and firewall forward harnesses as well as some interior pieces. Their adjuster called and asked that I resubmit the bid using "used" parts. I politely told him I was not installing 40+ year old harnesses in a vehicle that would likely result in a repeat of the incident.
The customer took it to another shop that a friend of the family owned, (his bid was within 100.00 of mine). When he was done, SF refused to pay. The customer had the cajones to call me and ask for help eek realcrazy
I said sorry, it's between you, your friend and SF.
Their have been other examples as well. I wouldn't insure anything through them twocents beer

I watched it sell. I bid on it and I got out at $18,500. It went to a bidder in Missouri for $19,000 and change with fees.
