My car is sitting here ready to fire up but I'm afraid to put water in it as we're suppose to get some 28-32 degree nights this week. I have some antifreeze but then I'll have to mess with trying to flush it all out in a couple weeks. What's the easiest way to do that? I usually just drain the radiator but that doesn't get it all out.

Easiest way would be to drain the Radiator and if the block still has a working drain in each side, let those babies flow as well.
Otherwise set up a heater in the garage, its really gonna have to freeze to hurt anything.

Yea Jim I often wonder how many people actually drain the antifreeze out.

It's spring time in Northern Ohio....why would you need anti freeze?
I know Tony, it's April 8th and it's suppose to be freezing every night.
I'll go fill the system right now with some antifreeze added.

went racing a few weeks ago....and didnt want to run any antifreeze that i had in from over the winter... I drained the anti-freeze out by pulling the bottom hose, filling it back with water,,turned on my electric water pump x few minutes to circulate it,,,and dilute things out... It took about 4 cycles of pulling the bottom hose,,,adding water to the rad,,running the pump before i got all the antifreeze out of it..took about 15 minutes total The weather got cold again,,,,so,,,i put antifreeze BACK in the car,,,,and will have to do the whole process again,,, i cant to my plugs on the block very easy,,,but that would be even easier,,,

The company next door to us sells and installs portable carpet cleaning machines, the ones in the vans. They use windshield washer fluid to winterize the machines if they will sit out over the winter. Cheap, easy to clean, and 10 times easier to clean up if spilled at the track.....
Just a little helpful info.
Ben your post got me thinking. Has anyone tried this in a race car? Has anyone ran windshield washer fluid in a race car?

Hey Bob, last fall before the Halloween Classic, my brother and I both put block heaters in our cars. Now, I still had antifreeze in the car for that race, but it would keep the coolant about 140-150 degrees. You know how long it is between rounds up there, so make a pass and plug it in to keep the heat in the motor. Just a note, I got it fom a federated auto parts store for like 25 bucks. Probably saved that in fuel in just that week. Beep

I know a guy who's used washer fluid in his race cars for over 20 years for this very reason.

Why not run it year round? Ok I am not the smartest person here But I can learn or at least I think I can
You're not supposed to run anti-freeze at the drag strip. If you have a coolant leak & it gets all over the track, it's difficult to clean up & increases the down time, due to that. It's kind of a racer courtesy.....no antifreeze at the track.

No antifreeze here, just water and water wetter,,,,,and the car sit's in a heated garage all winter.
Light travels faster than the speed of sound,,,this is why some people seem bright untill you hear them speak.

all I know is my late model Vette ran 215 all the time all I did was add a bottle of WW and it drop the temps to 200 all the time so for me it work at lowering the operating temp of that car. Thats all I have in the race car water and WW and I run the fan very little to keep the temp up to 180

I have petcocks on my block. I drain the antifreeze out in the spring and run water with WW for spring through fall

Water Wetter actually by itself doesn't reduce temps. It's really a surfactant agent.
