Is anyone making a true water based clear coat? By that I mean one that has a flash point higher than 35 Deg C.? I just spent about three hours web searching and can't find anything. Am I missing something or is this telling me something? confused

That's one of the references I found. But when you Google it you end up with a page for EC520 En-V rather than Envirobase HP ECW8186. But I tried again and with more searching found the SDS for ECW8186 and it does have a flash point higher than 35 Deg C.

Water Based Clearcoat

Thanks for kicking me in the butt to keep going!! up

i will check with my PPG paint rep when he stops by on Monday, IF i catch him. he usually gets there before 7am.
if there is a product he can find it and get me a tech sheet.
i work in a PPG certified body shop and have been a PPG certified painter for over 20 years.

just a note. water-base paints DO have solvents in them.

i talked to my rep.

his first comment was aquabase plus paint is used in EUROPE.
he said he hasn't read anything about it on the PPG news source for dealers only. he said this source is regional so it might be used in strict EPA areas like California.
he will check on it and get back to me.

i am not holding my breath on getting info. he is good on tracking down info if i really need it. but this isn't a high needs request and he has a lot of area to cover and only so much time on hand.

Europe? WOW! Thanks for pursuing this. I know what you mean about a paint rep's workload, I have a PPG rep in a neighboring town but he is too busy taking care of his commercial customers to pay attention to a lowly hobbyist like me. And I don't blame him, he couldn't live on what I would buy. My Martin-Senour rep is in the same situation. If your rep comes through with more information, please don't keep it a secret. Thanks!! beer
