ON TOPIC .... so if the plate EXPIRES- the date tab - THEN you don’t have to turn the plate in ? You do not, its no longer a valid tag, so no insurance is required. But the caveat, briefly mentioned prior, you still are on the hook for whatever that plate gets used for, expired or not, forever, like the prior example of tag reader tolls, red light running, etc, so the plate is useful by others for bad things, etc, until its surrendered. Why isnt it good enuff to jsta turn the ADHESIVE TAB into the DMV or the insurance company ? I don't know, because its logical? 
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

I have Allstate, the last two months they nicely sent me an email to let me know they had refunded me around $45, per month, through my method of payment.
I pay through my online bank payment deal, so should be no big deal to refund, right?
Nothing has hit my bank account yet ...
It takes gasoline to interest me.
