If dealers and car manufacturers really want to kick start sales they should step up the incentives game or pay up for trade ins themselves. If they want to cater to those people with lower income that's fine, but yea, steep discounts should be offered to all so maybe the people who can afford something after this can buy and leave decent trades instead of flooding junkyards with cars of no scrap value.

Ugh. What a scam, Use tax dollars to destroy perfectly good used cars in order to artificially drive up prices on used cars, which is supposed to drive up sales on new cars. Got to get more low and middle income people into those 72 and 84 month car loans.... And justify it using environmental arguments which don't even work in this situation...

Quite honestly... I have had second thoughts about the ScatPk ! THAT could get me into trouble! ..... my other thought would have been a Charger GT ... pretty peppy PLUS it gets over 30 mpg on the highway.
... Getting in trouble was one of several reasons my wife has an STX instead of an R/T. Not sure I could keep my foot out of it. Plus I don't have to pay extra on the insurance or buy premium fuel for it. Tim

I didnt think about the vin when I cut the car apart and it was scraped also.. I look at junkyards now days and they are empty.. those guys made a living selling used parts.. and cars
