Dang, I was at two stores this am, the only two stores in the lil town of 3k I drove to.
One place I packed up a 12 pack of paper and my silly butt could of but didnt get any at the other.
To me people are goofy geeking out over butt wipe. No ones ever been in the military? No ones ever done any camping.
Maybe TMI but anyone with bags of clean polish rags, old clean socks, that can all be cut up and used and burned.
I dont flush anything down my stool paper wise, it all gets burnt, havent had to pump my tank in over 15 years. All kitchen sink water gets routed to my food compost box outside. (You would too if you seen how nasty it was).
I can see the book now, "The Fall of a Nation:No Where to Wipe"
So in Chicago, is it no more Dime Bags, just 1/4 rolls of butt wipe on street corners. Guys getting layed because there the ones with the "Paper"? Pimps sayin "Here [censored]" heres 3 squares of paper, now move on?
Crazy Times.

Whos up to trying some common shop products.
Step up if you can try "Brake Clean" "Carb Cleaner" Laq. thinner on a rag? Diesel Fuel on a rag? Maybe toss some floor dry up there and brush off when dry?
So many options, this is not an issue for us car guys.

The stores are out of toilet paper but it's good to have options.
That's why I never curse at junk mail...it's great to get the woodstove going, too. Back in the good old days, they'd use corn cobs, pine cones, leaves. There was a hole through the corner of the Old Farmer’s Almanac was so people would be able to hang it on a hook in their outhouses.

I hope the stores don't let people return all this stock pile of stuff when it's all over. So far our stores have had the shelves less full the normal but we haven't had a problem buying stuff yet. Local store has already refused returns on TP. One person wanted to return 20+ packages... 20... Kids rears had been wiped with laundered cloths for 100+ years. Baby wipes... what were those when I was a toddler! Guess that's too difficult a task for the throw away crowd.

I wish they would run a sale on that here. I'd stock up. I mean alcohol kills the virus right? Does it work the same in the blood stream?

Call me OCD, but I've never been a fan of taking paper and wiping my butt with it after crapping. It's good for smearing it around I guess. I've always gotten in the shower, which as Guitar Jones mentioned is a foot away. This is some great conversation, btw I think people see others buying up stuff, and figure it must be smart thing to do, and the panic is on. A bunch of sheep.
Facts are stubborn things.

Well, I'm quite regular. I don't eat at Taco Hell nor do I eat foods that send me running for the toilet. I wake up, go to bathroom take a shower. It's a daily routine. Of course, there's the occasional need other times. I didn't know we were discussing camping and road trips. I think the discussion was about your general practices during your normal routine. Yes, I leave the house. Do YOU take weekly camping expeditions and road trips? Rhetorical question, really don't need an answer.

I should have checked out the baby wipes last night while I was in the super market, those wipes are way better for cleaning your butt than TP IMO. Wonder if they got panic bought up too.....dumb if they didn't. I don't think you can flush those.

Ran into a friend of a friend this morning who works at WalMart. He told me they had an all-out fist fight in the TP aisle yesterday. Had to shut down a complete section of the store. They are also not going to accept returns on TP from the fools who bought hundreds of rolls. I did go to the grocery last night to stock up on beer. I have plenty of everything else all the time: food, water, cash, firewood, ammo...
It will be interesting to see how sheepish folks are if this thing plays out like I expect...

" the fools who bought hundreds of rolls"
That's capitalism, pure and simple, unless the gutter is your drinking water source.
Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

When I think of Capitalism, pure and simple, unnecessarily panicking and buying up boxes and boxes of TP isn't exactly what comes to mind.
I'm glad they won't let them return them. Can't people stay level headed, and just practice good hygiene, avoid crowds when possible, and stay home if you have a compromised immune system??!

I just found out the GF stocked up on TP about a month ago while it was on sale before all this even started.

Poor Beavis Yeah butt what about "Butt" Head reminds me of the joke about a fluffy bunny hopping up to a bear doing his doo-ty. Bear asks the bunny: "Does your scoot stick to your fur?" Bunny says: "No, Why?" Bear says: "Good!" As he quickly swipes the bunny off his feet with his paw and...

I'm glad they won't let them return them. Can't people stay level headed, and just practice good hygiene, avoid crowds when possible, and stay home if you have a compromised immune system??! Everybody thinks different. When you buy TP in a "panic"(?) and sell it for 10x(?) what you paid for it, and return what you don't sell, for what you originally paid for it, that makes you a free market "capitalist". Although some call it greed.

"can you spare a square?" all out here as well. my wife knows a lady the next town over that does taxes inside wal-mart. she said the other day, the kid was wheeling out a cart full of TP, and he got mobbed by the fools ! people were shoving, pushing, and climbing over each other to grab as much as they could. we have lots of dirty shop rags, junk mail [full supply replenished daily, monday through saturday], old socks, old sheets and pillow cases, etc. just cut up the big items to a comfortable size, install a bucket with a lid in the throne room, wash when dirty, and re-use. just like a family with babies did in the good 'ol days. no diaper pins required this go around.

"can you spare a square?" all out here as well. my wife knows a lady the next town over that does taxes inside wal-mart. she said the other day, the kid was wheeling out a cart full of TP, and he got mobbed by the fools ! people were shoving, pushing, and climbing over each other to grab as much as they could. we have lots of dirty shop rags, junk mail [full supply replenished daily, monday through saturday], old socks, old sheets and pillow cases, etc. just cut up the big items to a comfortable size, install a bucket with a lid in the throne room, wash when dirty, and re-use. just like a family with babies did in the good 'ol days. no diaper pins required this go around. mopX ... ur stealing MY LINE on page 1 - spare a square !!... ...and I heard on the NATIONAL NEWS that mobs attack people with grocery carts full of whatever happens LOTS .... north of coder PA .... but mostly around Pittsburgher!

.Just think we have now what 50 deaths in the US Thata and 26 or so from one place.Swine flu was at leats 20times worse and we had nothiong like this.Too much hype and too many Chicken Littles saying the sky is falling. Rocky Be careful not to compare ending numbers to beginning numbers. We know that covid is both much more contagious, and has a much higher mortality rate (H1N1 looks like its mortality rate was 0.02%, South Korea is at ~0.6% for covid with the best response so far, other places are much higher than that even). H1N1 was only contagious for about a day before symptoms appeared, and a week afterwards. Covid appears to be contagious in people that never show any symptoms. Is it worth fighting over TP about? Nope! Is it worth shrugging off and ignoring? Nope!
If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Everybody thinks different. When you buy TP in a "panic"(?) and sell it for 10x(?) what you paid for it, and return what you don't sell, for what you originally paid for it, that makes you a free market "capitalist". Although some call it greed. You feeling the burn? You better stock up on ointment....you’re gonna need it!

Because you actually need the money for food. But if you eat you will need more toilet paper. A catch 22 if I ever saw one.

Why the need to return toilet paper? Even if you bought too much it is not like it is going to go bad. Duh! ..

Now that would be a really great burn worth noting. Got any more off topic replies in the wings?

Call me OCD, but I've never been a fan of taking paper and wiping my butt with it after crapping. It's good for smearing it around I guess. I've always gotten in the shower. You are lucky enough to find a shower at a restaurant? On a road trip? At work? When camping? You do leave the house, right? I wouldn't normally bring TP from home to take to a restaurant, on a road trip, at work, and hopefully I don't need to take any with me every time I leave the house. I might have brought some from home if I were to go camping, but I don't do camping. Tomorrow you wouldn't have to have restaurants on your list, the only ones open in our area will be the ones with a drive through. It could be a tough spring! Gene

By no one needed to be mentioned: "Am I off my rocker here ? What the heck ! THIS IS JUST CRAZY "
Since you asked, first yes, and NO.
You likely are under 60, in a lower risk group, in a area with delayed infection reports/deaths, have no close relatives over 60 and/or with underlying conditions, and maybe a risk taker ( don't wear your seat belt 100% of the time, don't get yearly flu shots, don't wear a helmet, grind without safety glasses, don't always wear sunscreen, etc WAG). Its a free country, take any risks you choose that don't effect others. However in this case, carefree attitude for your own safety can very much impact others significantly by transmitting a disease they prefer not to endure or possibly succumb to.
Have a little consideration for others who view it differently, its only a matter of weeks, if its gotten under control, and we can all move on.

Again, the past few weeks have been very instructive. If and when things get back to normal, I need to get serious about my preps. It's obvious society will sink into complete chaos and mayhem if anything REALLY bad happens.
People are crazy animals.
If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.
