Looking to put a cam/lifter package in a stock 440. I am running a 391 gear with an automatic. Want to gain a little more hp but can't afford a total rebuild. Any suggestions?

1st, nice car and color. We need a little more info. Bone stock w/ no mods? It appears that you want a small upgrade but what is it that will make you happy with the change? There are alot of possibilities but it depends on what you have and where you'd like to go with the power.

Lunati Voodoo .454/.475 is good with lower compression. And will work ok with your stock valve springs. If you want more HP go with the .475/.494. You'll need new springs for it though! Both are great street cams And work with MOST of your stock components.IE> carb/intake/valvesprings/converter-etc

If you like the stock ride characteristics, try the performer intake and cam package. The workhorse standard 440 was tame.

The simple original mopar muscle car cam 2783 with .450/.458 is a great cam. That cam has 46 degrees of overlap giving a great idle, with little compression requirement.

Best, to use a edelbrock or AVS style carb. better cruising manners, and simple tunning.

Thanks! Big fan of your's also....I would like to get some more low end punch. The car is real doggy out of the hole. I changed the rear end ratio last year and it helped but I guess I am looking for more snap in the bottom end.....performer dual plane, eddy carb, electronic ign and thinking of going to headers..

I'm partial to Comp cams. The xtreme energy h268 look good for your combo. low duration with good lift. Much bigger and your heads will limit effectiveness. I'd get the headers as well. I assume that you want to use stock rocker system. I would replace springs as well.
Lots of other ideas out there. This just mine. Good luck.

I can get you a custom Engle cam. Some for headers others for HP exhaust manifolds. I have a street hydraulic cam that works well with HP manifolds or headers. example: (224,236 .504,.517) with a little wider than std. lobe sep.

PM me if interested.
