I have a Dana rear-end purchased at the Nat's many years ago. Now putting on car and discovered two of the left axle stud holes are a little wallowed out. Previous owner had changed to RH thread. I want to go back LH thread.

The challenge is to find oversize studs (knurls and thread and have cut down and LH threaded); fix the two axle holes (machine shop?), or replace axle.

Anyone run into this or know where I might find oversize knurl LH studs, or oversize knurl RH I can have machined downed and LH threaded?

Thanks!

Unfortuantely, no oversized 1/2-20 L studs exist. You must plug weld the holes and drill them back out with a 21/32" bit.

You could also tack weld the head of the loose stud to the axle flange.

Not sure I want to trust the tack weld, but the plug weld and redrill may be the answer!

Yes, plugging is the correct way to do it.
