Was the engine compartment and the under body painted with the same paint as the body, I will be painting my Barracuda black should the rest of the car be painted with the same paint. It will be a base coat and clear coat on body. While I am on the topic what about the trunk area. Are there any good web sites to increase my knowledge about restoration paint for this car.
Thanks

Body was dipped in grey primer about halfway up the doors as a rustproofing measure. The car exterior was primed and painted afterwards. No body color underneath except the overspray which happened when the body was primed and painted.

You do see a lot of cars with body color undercarriages, and while it is cool looking, it is not factory correct.

Trunk is all body color except up under the package tray and the bottom of the quarters. Those areas on my dart were bare metal (and covered in surface rust).

Yes this one, Moparts.

Welcome

Originally the car had grey primer underneath and the color coat was oversprayed over it from the side. Los Angeles plant built cars seem to have black primer instead of grey.

I found this picture in this thread on correct undercoating.

Read some of the thread here too in the project section. They are very informative

I would paint the engine compartment all the way back to where the floor meets the firewall where the bell housing hump meets the floor trans hump (it gets the front of the torsion bar cross member pretty good too) and the side and bottom of all the frame rails. The factory shot at about a 45 degree angle from the bottom side to get under the frame rails and so they could get the bottom of the rockers with a good coat. It got the side and bottom of all the frame rails as well even though it may be a light coat on the bottom (the sides usually are pretty well painted). My painter painted the inside of the wheelhouses and the frame rails on my car before he did the outside of the car. There is some overspray on the underneath of the floor as a result.
