I am doing some research to determine what the original negative battery cable should be on my 1972 Demon 340 (SPD 4/72).The parts book shows #2983778.But after going some searches here,I see some guys have a #2983826 on their original or documented disassembled cars.Is one a superseded number to the other? I'd like to know what mine should be(missing from car),if possible, before I start searching for a real/NOS one. Thanks for any help

This is like the 69 b body positive cables, the assembly line part ran an engineering part number and all dealer replacements were the “085” number that shows up in the parts catalogue.
So the only cable your likely to find is an NOS or repo 778 cable unless someone stole one from the factory-which was done sometimes.
